The noise is probably NOT coming from the CPU. The CPU can't make any noise. The noise is LIKELY coming from either the CPU cooler fan, the PSU, the graphics card or one of the capacitors on the motherboard VRMs, and given the age of your platform it could be any of those things. I'd double check all of the fans to make sure they are not hitting anything or wobbling at all. Make sure your CPU cooler and graphics card heatsinks are not packed with dust and gunk. Blow them and the PSU out with compressed air if possible. Also, check your motherboard CLOSELY for any leaking or bulging capacitors in the VRM area to the left and above the CPU.
It's also possible given the age that the glue holding one of the coils on the graphics card or in the PSU has come free and is allowing one of the coils to whine, which can certainly sound like a buzzing noise.
