PC cant come out of sleep, says it didnt shut down correctly

So after a failed install of windows 10 (when windows decided all users would be updated to 10 about a month or whatever ago), I can no longer put my computer into sleep mode. Well I can put it to sleep, but when I come back to wake it up and it boots the screen comes up saying "windows did not shut down correctly...blahblahblah...start in safe mode/start normally etc." As you can imagine this is pretty annoying since I like to put my computer to sleep so I can resume where I left off with things quickly and easily. Anyone know a fix to this?

You must remove all traces of the failed Win 10 install
