Yesterday my old monitor finally died, so I temporarily have my 32' Sony Bravia connected to it. I re-calibrated the Win 7 color settings and the TV using http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ and everything looks great until I start a game, at which point everything becomes pixelated. The games still look ok, if a bit jaggy, but small text is unreadable. For instance, the Steam overlay is a pixelated mess, I can't read what I type into Google, and I cant read the Steam FPS counter when a game is running.

I've tried messing with settings in the TV, re-doing the WIN 7 settings and looked through the Nvidia control panel but I can't figure out whats causing it. So far all I've discovered is that the screen only shifts when I play a game fullscreen. If I switch to borderless windowed fullscreen (if a game supports it) everything looks fine again.

My TV does not have any PC specific settings unless I use an old VGA cable...yeah right. They are greyed out when connected via HDMI as I am.

Anyone ever see something like this?

SOLUTION FOUND!

In the Nvidia Control Panel, Display > Adjust Desktop Color Settings, at the bottom of the window there is a dropdown labeled "Content type reported to the display". Change the value from "Auto-select" to "desktop programs" and fullscreen games will look crisp and text is readable.
