PC crash to black when NOT playing games

Hey guys! Long time lurker, first time asker here.
When using for example Youtube, Teamspeak or such my computer will frequently go to a black screen, the sound will stutter and then completely stop, and everything will essentially lock up, necessitating a full restart, which then makes the crash seem more likely to happen a second time. It can be as simple as for example opening Google sometimes.
However, interestingly I've found that certain games like TheHunter: Call of the Wild StarCrawlers and Osiris: New Dawn keeps that from happening, so even if alt-tabbed I can still watch videos on Netflix or VLC without incident.
Honestly, I've had this issue for a long time now and I've never really found a reason or a fix for it (feel free to disprove me with a few keystrokes and Google, though).

It's rather infuriating, even as I'm typing this I don't know when it's going to shut down again.
Here are my specs, let me know if there's anything you need, and I'm ecstatic for any and all replies:

Intel i5-4690k CPU @ 3.50GHz, 4 cores
8GB installed RAM
Windows 10 x64
AMD Radeon R9 200 Series

Computer usally runs at about 25-30 degrees Celsius under normal operations.

Sounds like a botched driver, perhaps caused by a Windows update. ( you can rule out RAM by dropping down to 1 stick in required slot for testing, switching sticks if it shows up)

If no help, try removal/ reinstall of GPU drivers/software.

If all no help still...
I'd gather assorted product keys/ codes, all needed drivers, and delete partitions, quick format, reinstall from scratch. Do chipset drivers, all Windows updates, then GPU drivers.
