Pc crashes Randomly

I have regular pc crashes i can be using my pc for up to 3 - 4 hours and i will get a crash to a blue screen if there is any way to resolve this it would be a great help

This can be either your hardware or software playing up, it can be difficult to test what it is.

One thing you can do is go to http://www.memtest86.com/ and download the software and burn it to a CD using a ISO burning program and boot your pc from the cd. This testing could take long and maybe you should read up about it a bit first. But in some cases it is the RAM that gives the error and the RAM can simply be removed and replaced and other cases may be a bit more bad.

There is also cases where it might not be hardware at all. I'm not too familiar with Software errors in this case but I know one test you can do is the following:

-Locate your Command prompt (cmd) file (Shortcut will work as well)
- Right click on it and run it as administrator
-Now type SFC/SCANNOW and let the test run and see if you get any errors

of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

Any ideas ? if there anything wrong software wise or is it hardware related?

It wouldn't be that, that's not something to worry about. I get that regularly on my pc and others.

So it can still be either Hardware or software, maybe try the memtest86. I know of several incidents where it was the RAM causing it, but don't get set on that idea

As noted above, run memtest for 6+ passes.

Do you have to burn it to a CD? because i dont have any CDs to burn it onto.

You can run it from a bootable USB. Thats how I do it.

Just be sure to backup everything on your USB before using as it will be wiped

You have Windows configured to know the SSD is in fact an SSD right? I have seen plenty of people try to defrag an SSD and completely ruin it.

You can brick it completely. It will also destroy most of the data on the drive if nothing else.

i dont think i have defraged my ssd but if i did could that be whats causing the crashes how would you tell ?

Are you on windows 8 or 7?

If you defragged the drive, it will certainly cause problems.

Also what are your CPU and GPU temps at load?

i use 8.1 and my cpu at load is 45 to 60 max and my gpu is around 50 - 60 full load

Ok, so it is not temps.

Go to the windows screen and type defrag. Open up "defragment and optimize your drives" check to see if it is set to TRIM your SSD.

it is set to TRIM is there a way to check if there is anything wrong with the ssd ?

If it is set to trim you should be fine. This does not seem like the problem.

I'm thinking RAM. You need to run memtest. 5 passes will take a LONG time. Run it overnight.

put C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
on a server share so it can be looked at.

-Restart pc with USB plugged in and Enter BIOS and boot from your USB

When i download memtest then extract the files it is saying they are corrupt any ideas?

Are you trying to run it from the desktop?

You have to burn the ISO to a usb key or CD and boot to it.
