PC crashes with colourful horizontal lines

Hey all,
My first post here, recently my computer has been crashing when playing games, showing multi coloured horizontal lines. I suffered from a few random crashes where the display just froze but then that went away on it's own and now I suffer from crashes with these lines.

It mainly happened when playing Rocket League on Steam so I decided to eliminate that issue and left the PC on for a few days idling and playing games such as WoW and Football Manager and during this period no crash happened at all. But now when playing WoW it happened again. Just the once so far.

My first thought was a bit far fetched as I thought it was because I was playing Rocket League last night and turned the game off before it crashed but left the PC on all night before playing WoW this afternoon. Not sure if that could've caused it but I doubt it.

My GPU is the MSI R9 380 4GB version and the rest of the specs are as follows:
Corsair CX750M PSU
AMD FX 4130 @ 3.8GHz (using turbo that comes with my board to get 4.0Ghz)
ASUS Rock Extreme 3 R2.0 Motherboard
8GB of Corsair Vengence RAM at 1666Mhz
Windows 7 Pro OS

On another note, could it be the HDMI cable? Should I revert to using a VGA to DVI?
I've run a memtest on the RAM and that showed no issues and I also did a HDD check just to make sure and that also proved to be okay.

My temps for components are low with GPU hitting 60-65 on full load and the cpu at 38 on full load.
I've checked for any malware on the PC and there is none.

My GPU is only 2 months old so I can't see it being faulty and I do have the latest version of AMD catalyst control centre.

Sorry for the long post and thank you in advance to those who read it,
Regards,
Jake
