PC Crashing? After Changing Graphics settings.

I'm not sure if this is in the right place but I am pretty lost. I just got done installing a new MB, and CPU in a gaming pc and everything works perfectly fine for the most part. All of my drivers are up to date, I am certain everything is plugged in properly. I am thinking maybe the issue is my PSU? I can play pretty much any game just fine. Windows runs normally. Apps open and streaming is fine. When I go to change any graphics settings though, my PC semi crashes. Sometimes, even clicking on the settings button crashes it. I say semi because the computer is still on but my screen goes black, the rgb lights go out and I cannot turn the computer off by holding down the power. I HAVE to switch the power off manually. Any ideas guys? I am pretty stumped.

What GPU and PSU and CPU do you have? And what was your previous CPU?
Also you can always give Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) a try, it will completely remove your graphics driver so when you reinstall it you will have a clean install. You can download it here: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

I have the RX 480, EVGA 600B (either that or the 650) and the Fx 8350 Black edition. Previous CPU was the Athlon X4 860K black edition. There are only a couple games that do this but i've never seen a system crash like this before. I will try DDU and see what happens.

Try a clean install of your drivers-usually when making big changes such as changing a mobo reinstalling windows is highly recommended as it will resolve a lot of issues.

Your PSU defenitely is not a problem (unless it's faulty wich is verry unlikely). Let us know if giving DDU a try has helped

So, I used DDU, did a clean install and it is still doing the same thing. The timing is inconsistent but I can replicate it 100% of the time. I am thinking maybe the PSU is going out or the temps are spiking very quickly (or reading like they are) and it's causing a shutdown. Just to be safe, I am reinstalling Windows now to see if that was the issue.

Your PSU is defenitely good enough for your setup, 600W is plenty of power for an RX 480 and an FX8350 and EVGA makes decent PSU's. But since your system completely shuts down could be related to your PSU (decent does not mean invincible). Try swapping your PSU with another one from another computer or borrow one if reinstalling windows does not work. Also it could be a problem with your mobo shorting out the PSU under heavy load.

Ok, so a clean install did not fix the issue. I think it has something to do with my graphics driver or the card itself. I can run several games (Dark Souls III at 4k) Ark at 2k and several others and it never gives an issue. Other games cause it to crash though so I am thinking it has something to do with compatability with whatever graphics settings those games have in common. I have no idea how to test that though. Any ideas?
