Hi!
I built my first pc this weekend, and it worked fine until today. I used MSI Live Update 6 to update my bios. I have read after I got my problem that you shouldn't update BIOS unless you really need to, but I didn't know that when I did it. When I installed the update something weird happened. My computer almost powered down (it showed the shut down screen but it never completely turned off) and then it stayed in "idle" for 15 minutes before I decided to hard reset it. And my idle i mean that it was on but the fan was barely spinning and I had no image on my monitor, it was black. And now when turn it on it doesn't POST and the CPU Debug Light is lit. This is what I have tried so far:

1. I have taken out the mobo battery for ten minutes or so
2. Cleared CMOS (at least I think so, but I don't have a jumper cap so I used a screwdriver (I know it isn't good to use that but I'm desperate and I don't even know where to buy a jumper cap)
3. Removed the CPU, RAM, GPU and reinstalled them.

Here are my specs:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760
Intel Core i5-6600 @ 3.30 GHz
Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4-2666 16GB (2x8GB, but I'm only using one stick of RAM at the moment while I troubleshoot.)
MSI Z170A GAMING PRO
Antec VP550P 550W

If you did the update like this: downloaded the bios form msi> Restarted the computer and did the update from the downloaded file directly from the disk and it went all the way without any incorruptions your fine. If you...
I ordered the new motherboard on Friday, so I got it today and installed it and now everything works 😀, thanks everyone for your help I really appreciate it!

Don't give up yet, if you don't mind spending another $20 or so; buy a bios chipset via Amazon or Ebay. It is a simple plug-in and should get you going on the ms7778 Ver 1.0.

Why on earth would you spend 20 dollar on something that should be working in the first place. He was under the 14 days return/money back guarantee. I would have considered it only if it was out of warranty, but again i dont know how the online shopping policy works where your form:)

There is no need for such a snarky reply. The first ten iterations of the conversations never mentioned the possibility of returning any of the items. Even if they did, it was still up to the system builder to make any financial decisions. Postage could have cost that much! Additionally, for other readers the decision to ditch a board which is worth far more than a hundred dollars, based on a BIOS problem, the choice to spend $18 for a new BIOS could well have been the desired reply.

My apologies Wornhall. I just diden't understand why you suggested buying a bios chipset when the problem was marked as solved and hampen did return the motherboard. Most returns due to DOA the company will cover the postal costs for you (Norway and Sweden). If you read in the reply's by hampen he tells me that hes from sweden and buying stuff from Amazon there might be a chance that 1. the supplier does not ship to Scandinavia and 2. it takes longer to get the part (customs & fee) than it would returning the product and receiving a new product. But ofc i see the possibility that there might be others that stumble over this thread and find your input as solution:) Again sorry.
