Question PC fails to boot after memory upgrade

OK, I have a Ryzen 3700X in an AS Rock Phantom Gaming 4 X570 Mobo.
I just swapped out 16 GB Of DDR4 3200 CAS 14 for 32 GB of DDR4 CAS 16, both sets are GSkill Ripjaws. No other changes. memory is seated right, in the right slots for dual channel boot.
when I power it on, the leds light up, the fans spin, but there is no picture. It stays that was for, oh 20 seconds or so, powers off and immediately powers right back on, with the same result: no picture, reboot after around 20 seconds.
I've double checked power cables, nothing is loose or incorrect.
I swapped the original ram back in, no change.
Kinda at a loss as to what just happened

an update: I tried reseting the CMOS (removed and reseated the battery) with no change
You're probably a veteran with this stuff so I don't know if this would be the problem but have you tried just pushing the sticks in harder? The same issue happened when my girlfriend replaced her ram and she had no idea what was going on so she just tried pushing it in a lot harder than you'd think you'd need to and that worked. Again, probably not your issue but it's worth a shot
