PC fails to POST or display.

First off, have followed the guide on here for this problem, and haven't got anywhere.

My computer stopped working, when I turned it on I could hear the fans working away, but no image was on the screen.

No new software or hardware was installed ,prior to this computer had been working fine for 2.5 years.

Currently have the motherboard breadboarded. With CPU and cooler, nothing else, I get Beeps. Insert ram and I don't get any beeps. Have tried both ram sticks in each of the slots, nothing changes. Sometimes, but not all the time DRAM light will stay on, but usually fans will just be whiring and nothing on the screen and no POST beep.

Sorry about the long post, wanted to describe the problem as clearly as possible.

i5 3570k (stock cooler)
Asus P8z77-v LX
2 * 4gb Ballistix 1600 RAM
Evga GTX 660
Cooler master Silencio 550
Cooler master GX 550w
WD 2TB HDD
OCZ 120gb SSD

Any help on finding which part is the problem would be amazing, poor student and can't afford to buy lots of new parts/have no spares to test with.

Try clearing the CMOS (unplug the power cord and remove the CMOS battery for a minute). Insert single RAM module, DVD drive and connect the monitor to the onboard (VGA to VGA or DVI to DVI). Start the board and see if getting signal on the monitor.

Sounds to me like your PSU has gone bad. That is just speculation based on your symptoms.
