My custom PC is fully assembled and working very well.
One of my case fans has a 3 pin connector and a MOLEX power cable. the fan was working very well. but i realized that I had connected only the molex and the 3 pin was not connected.
I connected them both. the 3pin as well as the molex. as soon as I switched on the PC i noticed a burning wire smell from the wires of the case fan.
I immediately switched off the PC.
My understanding from this is that if the PC case fan has both molex and 3 pin, then we should either connect 3 pin or molex but not both. Am i correct? or was some other factor caused the fan wire to burn up?
