Question PC fans running and black screen ?

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this thread

I spent 2 years without turning my pc on and once i came home I tried to turn it on and got 3 long beeps which I went online and saw some threads and videos saying that the problem could be the GPU and/or the RAM so I tried to do some cleaning and they stopped and all I get is the fans spinning now without any image on my monitor.

I already tried the following:

• Cleaning the ram with an eraser and the slots in the motherboard and did the same for the gpu.
• Tried taking out the ram sticks one by one.
• Tried installing the gpu in the other pci express slot.
• Tried without any ram.
• Tried taking the cmos battery for 7min.
• Checked all cables and inserting them again.

I dont have a lot of money, which means if its something serious im screwed.

My build
Mobo; Asus z77
CPU: i7-3770k with liquid metal
GPU: AMD Radeon 570 8GB
RAM: 16GB (4x4x8)
PSU:Corsair VS550
Storage: 500GB Samsung Evo SSD / 1TB HDD / 2TB HDD
Case: Corsair 5000D

It's a 13 year old system so anything could be wrong.

Remove the GPU entirely.

One stick of RAM in the 1st slot.

Try to power on.

Next would be to remove the CPU and clean off the LM and reseat. Then use fresh thermal paste and reattach cooler.

Now it's time to decide if you want to spend money on a over decade old system.

1st thing I would replace would be the PSU.

Then the next would be the motherboard.

There's always the chance that the liquid metal seeped into places on the CPU and did damage.

I know its old but if its just the psu I can live with that

Replace the CMOS battery. Even if it's not the cause of this problem, it's likely past the end of life.

Thanks for the advice, I will but yesterday I had a lot of trouble to try to get to it and do the hard reset 😛

It was the cmos battery! I F Love you and my friend that suggested this.

I did some quick research and I guess it's a known possible symptom of not booting. I learned something today.

So Pc booted up and gave me fan error and I managed to fix it. After that it booted up fine and when I tried to log in i had forgoten my password, after 5 min my pc froze and I restarted it and no image again. I used an old cmos battery Im going to try to get a new one and some thermal paste
