Quite a beginner for hardware related things but long story short I had updated my motherboard (Gigabyte B450m ds3h) from F4 update to F32.. never before doing a BIOS updates I unfortunately thought it would've been simple enough to jump to a much later update.. and now when I boot my computer up it just goes straight to the Gigabyte boot screen and freezes, cannot go to QFlash, BIOS or anything.. hoping I didn't brick my motherboard but its seeming that way unfortunately! Just wanting insight from others and seeing a possible fix? Before busting out the ol wallet!

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600
CPU cooler: AMD Wraith
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450m DS3H

If you read through the BIOS notes, you should've updated your chipset driver prior to updating the BIOS to F30, from there gradually update the BIOS to F32>F40>F50>F65b.

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model.

my apologies! I have updated my post with the corresponding questions!!
And unfortunately that is the link I used to get the files, paid attention to the red text but not the white text lol.. ooof.
Is there any chance for my wallets sake, this is recoverable?

things to note your psu is underspec and is probly not going to play well power supplys loose efficiency over the years and that particular model is probly on its last legs.

your card on the website states a power supply minimum of 650w

thats not to say that the psu is at fault but just keep in mind that your running it out of the spec that card suggests.

the issue you have is if you didnt update the amd chipset drivers first
Note : Update AMD Chipset Driver 18.50.16.01 or later version before updating to this BIOS. is from f30 which i imagine could have bricked the board if you didnt do that.

other things that can cause a soft lock is if your ram is overclocked it or any overclock it can cause issues.

you can fix this by turning of the pc and removing the battery in the motherboard for 10 seconds then put battery in if this has still failed then you will need to short 2 pins on your motherboard to reset the bios fully.

manual

page 18 is the instructions
page 12 has diagram where you can find the pins

well this can be sadly considered solved 🙁
likelyhood of it being bricked is high, 90% the motherboard I have doesn't have dualOS, I've tried battery, pulling ram and CLRCMOS, with no success only resort now is to buy a new one.. might as well upgrade 8)
thanks everyone for your help!!

If you're upgrading now, it's worth the time to upgrade the PSU. The current one is now a decade old at a minimum and wasn't even good when it was new (Corsair didn't make the Corsair CX a decent budget line until about ~2015 and the old green-lettered ones are awful).

I'll keep that in mind! Last thing I need is the PSU to cause issues with other hardware related items! Hopefully I can find a good 900ish watt powersupply for a decent price, thanks for the help🙂

Hi I have the same motherboard and cpu and I did the BIOS upgrade from F2 to F32 with QFlash and with the same result as you. But i managed to revert to F2 this way:

Note my SSD is NVMe Gen4 and it works fine with Bios F2.

You need to:
1/ poweroff and unplug your SSD from motherboard (it was my primary booting device)
2/ reboot , now you can access the bios and qflash again
3/ on another pc or if you have another booting device: prepare the USB FAT32 with unzipped F2 bios
4/ insert USB with F2 on the PC
5/ QFlash back F2
6/ poweroff and plug back your SSD
7/ reboot and it works as before for me.

It seems there is a kind of incompatibility betwwen Bios F32 and booting on NVMe SSD

So I wonder what is the proper process to upgrade the BIOS with this configuration ?

I checked and installed before all the lastest driver updates from here:
https://www.gigabyte.com/fr/Motherboard/B450M-DS3H-rev-1x/support#support-dl-driver-chipset

AMD APU Driver [22.40.46.23]
AMD Chipset Driver [5.11.02.217]

For some other Bios updates i saw people also run
EC FW update Tool
I tried running it with Bios F2 and Win10, but it says I have no firmware to update.

Some ideas to try (or not ...i have not tried ... so try at your own risk):

- redo the same F2 > F32 remove SSD except at the end do F32 > F67d .. i may try later.

- remove SSD, make your HDD bootable and try to upgrade bios to F32 .. run EC FW update tool, then flash bios F67d, put back your SSD

- update directly to F67d with efiflash on a usb key ?

- update directly with @bios to F67d ?

Do you think one of those idea can work ?
Have you managed to update from F2 to F67d with a SSD another way ?
