Hello guys, I hope you're doing well!

I have very strange problem with my PC - It started freezing for no reason a while ago, but the mouse was able to move and sometimes the keyboard worked as well (was able to turn task manager with CTRL+SHIFT+ESCAPE).
When I was hovering with the mouse cursor over some icons, it highlighted them, but they couldn't open. I feel it started happening after I've upgraded my old GPU with a new one. Because I've made some other changes, I decided to clean reinstall OS, but it seems it doesn't fixed the issue. Other problems I have when this freeze happens is that my ICUE lightings are set to hardware lighting (the lighting setup which is set when the app is closed or PC is shutting down/booting up) instead of the profile I've made. I know for sure that my temps are good - Asus Strix LC 240 is cooling my CPU and the system fans are Noctuas, pulling air in - the gpu is around 40/50 degrees, while the cpu is around 45.
The other strange thing about that freeze is that it's not easily recreateable - sometimes it appears while im not using the PC at all, sometimes it might happen if im browsing for half an hour, and sometimes i might be using the pc the whole day and it wouldn't happen.

Can anyone of you make some suggestion of how can I troubleshoot the thing and see what might be the reason for my PC to crash like that ONLY when im in desktop mode/browsing internet/work in office? It doesn't crash apparently when im playing games O_O.

Here are the things i've tried:
  • In Event Viewer there is nothing strange or something that can help me;
  • Tried windows memory diagnostics - nothings at fault;
  • Checked with Samsung Magician the nvme drive for errors - none detected;
  • Clean reinstall of drivers and later the whole OS - problem still presist;
  • Cleared the BIOS - problem still presist;
  • Swapped RAM - trying it now, the time will tell;
My PC specs are:
  • Ryzen 5 5600x (Stock Settings);
  • RTX 3070, Gaming OC, Gigabyte; (stock settings);
  • 2x8 G.Skill Trident Z, 3200 CL16;
  • ASUS STRIX B550 Gaming F (Wi-fi) - will try to upgrade BIOS;
  • Kingston SSD 1 TB SKC600 (SATA);
  • NVME Samsung 970 EVO PLUS 250 gb, pci gen.3;
  • Seasonic Focus+ gold 80, 750 watts;
  • Windows 10 20H2;
  • Keyboard - Razer Huntsman Elite;
  • Mouse - Razer Mamba Elite;
  • Headset - Razer Kraken Ultimate;
  • I have Xbox Series S controller, connected via Bluethoot (not all the time though);
I am sorry in advance for the confusion I might've created - I've tried my best to explain the problem. Hope someone can lead me to solution, and I hope that there is no component at fault.

You should ideally be on version 21H1, which leads me to ask where did you source your installer for the OS if your reinstall brought you to version 20H2...? What BIOS version are you currently on for your motherboard(prior to any updates)? Which slots are the rams populating on the motherboard? You mention using Samsung's Magician app, yet I don't see any Samsung SSD's on your specs list.

Include peripherals to your specs list as well.

I've used windows 10 media installation tool a while back. Bios version is 2006, it's not the oldest one. As for my ssd's - yeah, i've forgotten to include them, in the lists (nvme - Samsung 970 Evo Plus 250 GB gen 3., ssd - Kingston skc600 1 TB sata drive). The ram slots populated on the board are - DIMM_A2 and DIMM_B2. Will Include peripherals as well.

[UPDATE]: Swapping RAM slots seems to have resolved the issue FOR NOW. Haven't had any problems for 2 days, using the PC for around 8-10 hours. I will keep you updated if anything happens in the future.

P.S. It's kinda strange that swapping rams was the problem (IT SEEMS), because I have not touched this part of the PC for a several mounts now, only changed the GPU, and threw the whole system in a new case, having checked everything thoroughly afterwards. :spamafote:

[UPDATE]:
Okay guys, one more update, and I hope it's the last one.
Swapping rams didn't do much - not a long after the freeze happened. So, I've deceided to check AMD's site for chipset driver and isntall it from there (previously, I've done it through armory crate, Asus's software). There was an issue which prevented me from isntalling any drivers that AMD's installer was offering (Something with RAID and not compatible with it, it was).
That made me believe it was something to do with the current installation process and I've used AMD driver uninstaller in Safe mode. After uninstalling the current drivers, I've tried to use AMD's installer and it was possible - it installed all the drivers without any issues.

Been using the pc for a several days (around 10 days) and nothing bad happens. Haven't done anything else to the system just yet. Want to see what exactly was the issue, and appears to be a driver-related one.
