Hello, so, I would love to get some help on this:
Whenever I torrent ANYTHING, torrent downloads for like 10-15 mins or so and suddenly whole PC freezes, I can't do anything except force shut down with power button. If I wait, then after ~15 minutes my pc shuts down and shows up with motherboard screen stuck/frozen(of course i have to force restart it). ONE TIME it showed me a black startup screen with written ''A Hard Drive is nowhere to be found, please insert a Hard Drive and press ENTER'' or something like that, of course, I already have a hard drive in my pc, but whenever I press ENTER nothing happens...
Also I have tried differrent torrent programs like Utorrent BitTorrent and others but same thing happens.

Thanks for anyone who will help me in this situation. :)

Solution
Unfortunately, yes. 🙁

This one has already started to show up signs of failure and the fact that it fails both tests means that it's not a reliable HDD and you shouldn't risk putting any valuable data on it. Backup your data as already suggested, if you haven't done it yet and replace the drive with a new one when you have the chance.

However I'd still advise you to check the warranty with our website and the vendor (if you haven't done it already and think that you're out of warranty just because it's old), because WD Black drives have a 5 year warranty and unless the HDD is older, it's quite possible for it to be still under warranty.

Sorry that things turned out this way. 🙁
Hey there, Supreez.

Let me just warn you for your own sake that depending on what you're "torrenting" it might be illegal so you should tread lightly if you don't want to be banned from the forum by one of the moderators.

As for the issue at hand, it really sounds like the drive is in a pretty bad shape. You should backup your most important data as soon as possible, just to be on the safe side. After that I'd suggest that you download the HDD/SSD manufacturer's diagnostic tool and test it for errors, to see what's the situation with the drive.
You could also give it a try with a different port and cables, to see if the issue persists. It would be great if it turns out to be something as minor as a faulty cable.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Hi, I know that torrenting some things like pirated games and stuff is illegal, but I'm not downloading anything like that. :)

As for the problem, I will try your solution out a bit later and give you an update.

Hey, I have a Western Digital HDD ( WD Caviar Black 500gb) but can't really find the diagnostics tool....also I noticed that the drive is quite hot, is that normal?

Sorry for the inconvenience. It seems like we're currently experiencing some technical difficulties with our download page. Here's a direct download link for DLG: http://downloads.wdc.com/windlg/WinDlg_v1_31.zip
And the instructions that go along with it:
Instructions
Extract and run the program, WinDlg.exe. If running Windows Vista (or later), you will need to Right-Click on the WinDlg.exe file and choose to Run As Administrator.
Read and accept the license agreement to continue.
On the main program screen, there are two windows. In the top window, you will see the drives in your system that are available for testing. The model number, serial number, capacity, and SMART status of each drive will be displayed. In the bottom window, the partition information for the selected drive will be displayed.
Highlight the drive and select the icon on the top row to test or run SMART status.
When you select the run tests icon, the "DLGDIAG - Select an Option" window appears.
You will see the following options:
QUICK TEST - performs SMART drive quick self-test to gather and verify the Data Lifeguard information contained on the drive.
EXTENDED TEST - performs a Full Media Scan to detect bad sectors. Test may take several hours to complete depending on the size of the drive.
WRITE ZEROS - writes zeros to the drive with options of Full Erase and Quick Erase. File system and data will be lost.
VIEW TEST RESULT - displays the latest test results.
Select the test you wish to perform and click the Start button.
When the test completes, you will be notified with a pass/fail message. Click the Close button

You can also follow the ones provided in the tutorial from my previous post.

This is definitely not good. 🙁
The drive is failing or is on its way to fail. I'd recommend that you RMA it if it's still under warranty. You can contact the vendor you got it from or do that via our website: WD Support Portal. Here's how to check the warranty with WD: Warranty Status.

Also, I'd strongly recommend that you remove the serial numbers from your post for security reasons.

Please keep me updated.

🙁 I think I will most probably try to get a new drive, because this one is quite old, also I don't have warranty on it. My guess is getting a new drive as the best way....
