Hey guys. Like the title states, I have an intermittent freezing issue. Happens constantly while playing games, watching Youtube or even allowing the PC to idle for too long. My screen will start to skip almost like its a frame to frame type of thing. sometimes i cannot play games at all and its starting to happen more and more frequent (also affects sound)
Ive tried several things. 1. updating BIOS to version 7C37v17. 2. Checking and updating windows. 3. Updating all drivers using Over booster. 4. Used MSI afterburner to monitor CPU temps while the freezing is happening. Temps don't go past 80 celsius. (usaully stay in the mid 70's). 5.Monitored FPS, FPS stay at a steady 70-120 depending of game. 6. Monitored performance using task manager while freezing was present. Everything was less then 10%. 7. Used defraggler and CCleaner. No Change. I believe its a CPU to Memory issue because when I try turning off PC it will take forever to shut down. I have to force restart by holding down the power button.

System specs:
MSI MPG x570 gaming edge WIFI
Ryzen 5 3600
GTX1080
ADATA SSD SU900
1TB HDD

Set Memtest to 10 passes, no errors. last couple days the lags have been few and far apart but is still there. I took screen shots of GPU-Z and CPUI-D when the lags were present and after i restarted the pc. FIrst pic is after the reset (no lag)

Differences i see between pics is system memory usage which goes up when freezing and the cpu's voltage goes up to 1.4V

There is a very new beta bios, could test that. Maybe resolves memory issues or voltage issues. If you have the latest chipset drivers is it fine, if not update these first. Latest are from "Release Date 4/7/2020". Beta bios is from "2020-05-08 ", so today.

Motherboard isn't the greatest with vrm so maybe this bios will help with problesm as well coming from that area.

those vrm temps are with a 3900X, but maybe the higher voltage is a problem on it's own.

I ordered and installed and seasonic Focus 850w gold PSU. I disconnected my HDD and let my computer sit for a day, freezing still present. I'm not sure how to check chipset levels but i installed the latest chipset drivers. If freezing is still present then I will install the beta BIOS.

I wish I would have seen that video before I bought my MOBO lol

People have freeze issues even on better boards like the x570 tuf gaming. Freezing problems can be anything which makes them insidious issues. For example with a RAM overclock, procODT being too low can cause stuttering and hitching. This is random and the RAM tests stable one moment fails randomly the next. Drivers can also cause the issue. It can affect some games and not others.

Only reason i mentioned the voltage cause speed in both pics is the same, makes me think that the lower voltage should be fine for 3.6 unless it wants to boost at that point.

Can try and set a fixed voltage, shouldn't hurt but might give less boost. Since 1.4V was the highest at that moment try 1.375 and see. Can do some stability tests.
some info.

Installed beta bios 7C37v191, have not had lags since update. There are some small lags every so often but not like it was before where i couldn't use my computer. Im so grateful something finally worked! Thank you guys for your help!

Nice that the bios beta helped. 7C37v191(Beta version) - Updated AMD AGESA ComboAm4PI 1.0.0.5

AMD Generic Encapsulated Software Architecture (AGESA) will focus on overclocked DDR4 memory. The AMD 1.0.0.5 AGESA microcode update – due out in beta sometime this week – will enable “20+ memory registers,” according to a Gigabyte representative. The update should also fix issues with IOMMU support, soft bricking, and low power states when overclocked. - https://www.eteknix.com/ryzen-bios-update-boost-memory-performance/

The BIOS definitely seems to offer improved stability and optimizations in regards to DDR4 DRAM compatibility and also generation PCIe stability and interoperability.
