Maybe they get better customer satisfaction because the people that do have problems have to sign NDA's? If you can't speak about your problems, there is no problem... :)

Something about Apple just rubs me the wrong way. Nice computers, but I just don't like them. Maybe it's because I can't use them, despite trying.

While not funny, or cute... Microsofts ad's where they buy people a laptop for $1000 or under or whatever it is, are smart commercials.. they reiterate the obvious, that if you have $1000 to spend on a laptop... you can either have a really powerful laptop that isn't a mac, or you can put that $1000 down and start a lay away plan on a much less equipped mac laptop.

The mac hate here is intense, especially for people here who have obviously never used one. I've also got my nice shiny built by myself gaming rig running Windows XP sitting next to my nice shiny Macbook Pro. OSX is the easiest to use operating system on the market today. Vista over-complicates things, hides menus, and is just a sheer patch job when it comes to UI. XP is still the best commercially released build of Windows, but its old. Sure Windows 7 should fix that, but even then Windows 7 vs Snow Leopard isn't even a contest. This is based on tests I've done with RC builds of Windows 7 vs Snow Leopard.

There are viruses for the Mac, this is true, but they are so insignificant compared to the threats Windows has against it that its not worth even mentioning. You get a Mac virus, typically, by installing pirated software. You get a Windows virus by opening an email, leaving it idle on the net, going to a malicious website, installing illegal software, etc. The list goes on.

At this point the only advantages I give to Windows is gaming and cheap upgradability.

I open emails, leaving it idle while connected to the net, went to malicious websites, installing illegal softwares, etc.

How come i never got a virus since Windows 3.1???

I love how so many of the posts make fun of Macs, but the reality is that they won those awards, it's a fact... What it means is competition and the makers of your beloved PCs will have to work harder to give you better service... So stop bitching about how horrible macs are... And BTW, worked for a multi-million dollar energy company, our entire IT department used Macs, not because they don't know how to do anything and are noobs, but because we can run any OS and the interface is just plain easy to use... I need to get sh*t done, not overclock and play games... nuff said...

These ads always made me laugh since every Mac is a P.C. I just wish Mac would start targeting Windows since they are both software companies and a PC is hardware. I do like Mac's software, but how they run their company and specifically their marketing could use some work in the are of integrity.

Buy Psystar!

@arlandi "How come i never got a virus since Windows 3.1???"

You're like most Tom's readers, you keep your software up to date and you probably don't run IE, or if you do run IE you run the latest version. You have to realize that most of us here are the outliers. Your average user doesn't update their software, Windows or Mac, and will click on just about anything sent to them. The difference is an out of box install of Mac OSX is set up to better deal with these threats than Windows is.

[citation][nom]Cryogenic[/nom]Apple no.1 in customer satisfaction? Well you can't argue Macs are pretty, and have a pretty OS, but I don't think Apple customers can really appreciate a nice hand build rig with cherry picked components... (because I don't think they can build one).[/citation]

Don't be so presumptuous. I have built many a Win box, am still using the last one with it's hot dog components, and I own 3 Apples. And you were saying?

[citation][nom]itadakimasu[/nom]The mac Equivilant to the Dell Precision I'm setting up right now that I got for $700 would be like... $6000 easily.[/citation]

Lie. Prove it. Match component for component...DDR3 RAM and the whole nine yards...your machine will cost just as much as an Apple. Don't fudge on the parts now. You have no clue what you are saying. A Dell Precision?...wow...so totally cool.

My guess is that you need to get laid. You probably are saying all of this gibberish so that you can impress the chicks...but, most of the hip chicks like the sexy design of the Mac. Sorry, the Dell is for the second class citizens of the world.

Most of the hip chicks like the sexy design of the Mac? Sorry, contrary to popular belief, owning a Mac does not get you laid. Unless you count blowing Steve Jobs.

While it's true a Dell Precision with the same components of a Mac Pro will cost just about as much, your retarded comeback makes me want to stab you in the eye with a really hot french fry. Seriously, get a life.

One is a hardware and software comany (apple) one is just software (microsoft). Comparing one to the other is a bit useless just like the overly easily to purchase J.D. Power and Associates awards.

But wait, you said: "The mac Equivilant to the Dell Precision I'm setting up right now that I got for $700 would be like... $6000 easily." and now you say that a Dell with the same components would cost the same...say what? You contradicted yourself. You confused? Is English your first language?

You act like all the other no-doers on the far-right with their fear mongering...you have taken everything out of context and applied it to your irrational statements in an attempt to persuade others to think like you.

Now tell me...since when does "perceiving something as being sexy" equate with "getting laid?"

A retarded comment? Is a comment retarded if it highlights the contradictions of your meaningless verbal ejaculations?...surely you can do better. Maybe you should work on making your life better.

When people learn to use PCs and stop sucking on the itunes tit they will realize that a PC and a zune are 100x superior to anything apple can put out. Not to mention gaming on a PC is absolutely amazing and puts Xbox/PS3 games to shame. Oh and a PC can edit movies, music, photos just as well as mac. And with firefox alone I have yet to get 1 virus or malware on my PC, ever. Then throw in any generic anti-virus and firewall, what more could you need? How about saving $500 when building a PC instead of buying mac's overpriced trash?

Getting sick of the whole Mac vs PC thing. A LONG time ago Macs has a few advantages that made them better computers then PC's.

First, Motorola processors used polled processing while Intel processors use interrupt processing. Polled is more reliable but slows the more devices you have on your computer. Interrupt processing is faster but you had to work out IRQ conflicts. This gave novice users the impression that PC's were hard to use/setup. PC's had IRQ conflicts, Macs did not. IRQ conflicts are pretty much a thing of the past since XP.

Second, Mac's used SCSI hard drives which were MUCH faster then old IDE hard drives running on a 66mhz bus. This made them good for graphics or other jobs that benefit from high throughput. Now the top line Mac Pro uses the same SATA 3gb/s drives as the PC's do. So now Macs have no performance advantage at all as they use the exact same hard drives and processors as PC's use.

Third, Apples OS was refined earlier then Windows. Windows 3.1-98 were a little harder to use and less reliable then the Mac OS's that were out. This isn't an issue any more. XP is very easy and intuitive and runs great. Windows 7 runs unbelievably well and is about as simple to use as it could possibly be.

This is how Apple got their reputation. The reason Apple fans still overpay for their computers is they lack the technical knowledge to understand why Macs used to be better. They don't understand Macs are just grossly overpriced PC's now. Personally I think paying an extra 1k for whats basically a Linux OS is foolish.

This Ad campaign is getting very annoying. Apple has no technical advantage to justify their crazy pricing so they try to sell that they are hip and run merit-less attacks on PC's. If Apple would stop being so proprietary and build something that really was technically better then a PC, people might actually buy it.

All of you fools keep saying shit like "The reason Apple fans still overpay for their computers is they lack the technical knowledge to understand why Macs used to be better. They don't understand Macs are just grossly overpriced PC's now."

Apple computers use high-end components. When you compare one computer to another you need to make sure that the exact WinPC component is the same spec as the Apple component. Surely it is not that hard to put this together. When you do, you will find that the Mac and Win PCs are very close in price. But...you must use the exact specs, and not go comparing a DDR2 machine with a DDR3, look at the FSB, GPU, CPU, backlit keys, etc.

So many of the anti-Apple crowd just talk shit, and have no idea what they are talking about...they just want to make noise...a feeling of superiority, inflated egos, puffed out chest, and pea-sized cerebrum. Bet you are the same ones creating all of the disinformation about health care reform. Boogey man mentality.

I'm sure Apple is trying to get some facts across, but they arent doing a good job of it. The Microsoft ads have actual situations, staged with actors or not depending on belief, but they do a much better job of getting the point across.
