Hi guys,
I am about to buy a new PC rig. My goal is to buy one with being sure that I dont have to worry about performance for few years ahead. I am also interest in 4k playing.
What I have chosen in a short period of time:
CPU i7 7700K 4,2 GHZ,
GPU GTX 1080 ASUS Advanced STRIX,
RAM CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 4x8GB 3000 MHZ
MOTHERBOARD MAXIMUS VIII HERO Z170.

Could you please help me if my choice are good and if they will run together properly? Advice on buying nice SSD would be also much appreciated.

PS - Is the timing of my purchase good? Should a new technology (whatever part of pc it considers) come out in the nearest future?

I'm building this system today if FedEx don't screw me again. Only issue with your build I can see is 3000mhz. However it's been a Looooong time since I built a gaming PC ... I got 3600mhz memory for my 7700k build on the Z270 platform. I'll update here with thoughts post build. GTX 1070 Founders in my build.

The hardware available today simply cannot run 4k at a respectable FPS. I'ds sugg est purchasing a good 1440p monitor. If you end up going 4k, that gtx 1080 won't be able to run triple A titles at a respectable fps in a couple years. Do you upgrade frequently? If so, I can understand you making the jump to 4k.

I do not actually. I always paid more one time not to update my gear frequently, because we all now how this industry is changing.

Is saw few benchmarks in which gtx 1080 was quite devent in 4k gaming. Ofcourse in few years there will be much more powerful GPUs. I am into e-sport gaming (LoL, SC 2, HS, OW), so I wont play games in 4k resolutions on a daily basis. It is only enthusiastic and for entertainment. Mabye wait for 1080 ti? The price is much higher than 1070 which is already a monster...

Please do so. I am really interested in your setup. I see now that I picked out of date chipset.

Well I had almos swaped few years ago to AMD, but as fas as my little interests in industry lately I do not believe AMD will crush Intel. If so, maybe for few months until Intel reveals new high end tech.

If you expect to get a good solid 5 years out of your (what I would consider to be very expensive) gtx 1080. I'd highly recommend going 1440p. The gtx 1080 can give you a playable experience in 4k, but the fps is just too low in my opinion with present day triple A titles. In a couple years when more demanding triple A titles come out, I guarantee you'll have to reduce the graphical settings to play at 4k. If you go 1440p, you'd likely be able to play on ultra settings at 1440p and get a respectable FPS for the next 3-5 years.

I will definetely consider this option. I need to buy a TV in few months, so thats why my thoughts are into buying 4k TV and PC rig. For extreme gaming i use 1080p and my 670 gtx is insufficient. I have FPS spikes one in a while.

Can you actually recommend a nice 1440p monitor?

I'm not "up to speed" on the latest and greatest 1440p monitors. I currently run 1080p on a 6 year old system. I would also advise you not to purchase a 4k tv strictly for gaming, as the response time regarding TV's are horrible. For videos/media its perfectly fine though.
