PC had strange hang while watching a movie

I had my PC hooked up to the projector we have and used it as an extended 2nd screen. We were watching a movie on Shomi on Google Chrome and halfway through the movie, the screen went all white and the sound cut off. I turned on my monitor and it showed nothing but a black screen (it should have showed the desktop) I moved my mouse around pressed the power button and the restart button but nothing happened. The PC was just completlely frozen for no apparent reason. I just factory reset it about 5 days ago so there really shouldn't be a virus or something.
I eventually had to mimic a power out and pull the plug and after that the PC worked as usual.

What could have caused this and how can I prevent it from happening again?

Hi,

Try changing some Power Options settings to prevent it from sleeping or shutting down if it's not being used for a long time.

- Open Power Options then click on Change Plan Settings then Change Advanced Power Settings.
- Expand Hard Disk then set Turn off Hard disk after to NEVER.
- Expand Sleep and set Allow hyrbid sleep to OFF.
- Set Hibernate after to NEVER.
- Do also set Sleep Mode to Never.
- Click Apply and OK then test it again and see if the same problem will persist or not.
