Pc harddrive foe laptop

My laptop's harddrive is physically damaged. I have a pc harddrive ( 240 gb). Can i connect my pc harddrive externally to the laptop and boot it. Will it harm the harddrive. I will use it for gaming .

You can't boot from an external drive.
Well, you can, but its a real pain to get working, it will be slow, and in the process you'd wipe whatever is on that drive.

And if that "PC drive" already has an OS on it, that really won't boot up.
