Didint exactly know where to put this but i Hope someone can help me. I recetnly about last March Upgraded my comp to a AMD Athlon 2400+(2.0ghz) Gigabyte G7a-KT400 mobo and 1 gig of PC-2700 DDR,SB Audigy 2(Retail), and my perfomance wasnt that great so i just ignored it, but when I finally got my new Radeon 9800 pro 128, last month I couldnt help notice when my computer was being really un-cool :\ I got a 11,355 score in 3dMarks 01', yes thats 01', and I constently read that people with 9700's get in the 16,000's, even my 03' score was bad 4993, compared to a 9800's regulare of 6000, I dunno what it could be, my computer is bassicly new and its not bad at all. Ive updated everything, gfx, sound, mobo, proc, winxp(btw Home ver)..and I dont know what could be gimping me? Anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated.

Cheers.

Could be a lot of things. Were the settings on the 3DMark programs set at default, or did you max everything? Did you enable V-sync? Antialiasing? Anisotropic-filtering?

You running any programs in the background, or on the system tray? You confirmed the processor's speed in your BIOS?

Everything was at default for 01' and 03 didint have v-sync on, i have confirmed my proc speed thru' bios and thru progams like Aida32 and Sandra, I dunno what it is, I also just got the HDD new its a WD 80gig 7200rpm. Im really bummin about the performance :\

Have you tried completely uninstalling the video drivers (reverting to VGA compatible) and then after a reboot installing new drivers?

And what timings is your RAM set to?

That's pretty bad. Make sure you are running the tests at the same settings other are, or do that online comparison thing.

I would think you may have some important setting wrong, like your FSB isn't set at the correct speed or you have AGP set to 1x.

Well, I have my AGP set at 8x, (thru the ATI driver suit) so thats also not cool, i dont know how to check my memory timings, can you use Aida32 to check that? Or do you have to go thru bios to check it? Im kinda new to OC'ing mainly my proc and vid card, but not my ram yet. I'll go ahead and try that, unistalling drivers and all and reboot and install, see what that does. Anyways thx. Cheers.
