I had 1 8gb corsair vengeance in my PC but i just bought another one of the same exact ram stick and i put it in so i should have 16gb now but it still says i have 8. I checked my motherboard manual and the ram sticks are in the correct places. I also heard that it takes a couple restarts for your pc to recognize it but it has been 5 days now and ive done a lot of restarts and shut downs. Is there anything i can do to get the pc to recognize the ram stick?

Make sure the stick is fully inserted into the slot. When you insert the stick in the slot, it will click and sound like it is in there properly, but the other end may not be making a good contact.

Have you ran the new stick by itself in the original slot? You may have a bad RAM stick. If the stick wont run by itself in the slot where the other one works, then you stick may be dead.

You can also try updating the bios. If the stick is inserted properly and it is a good stick of RAM, then an updated bios may solve the issue.
