PC Keeps Crashing

Ok so I just built a $500-550 ish budget pc and I thought all the parts were fine together but whenever I start to play some demanding games like Fortnite, some time in my pc crashes. My screen freezes completely and my audio starts messing up. I’ve had this issue for a while and I need some help please. I thought it was an overheating issue for a while but when I was playing and my pc crashed the temperature wasn’t that high so now I’m utterly confused as to how to fix it. This issue has caused me to lose around 3-4 top 2 situations and it’s been happening ever since I built my pc. Someone please help!

Solution

Fingers crossed. If the problem was your old RAM and/or/both old motherboard and you bought them only 3 months ago, check the return policy of the store and then check the manufacturers' warranty info on their websites. You may get a partial refund, depending on what you find out. Good luck!

I'd keep playing fortnite with the new hardware for at least a week or longer.
Best Buy return policy https://www.bestbuy.com/site/help-topics/return-exchange-policy/pcmcat260800050014.c?id=pcmcat260800050014

so 15 days since purchase
It is a desktop:
CPU: Ryzen 3 2200g
Motherboard: ASRock AB350M Pro4 AM4 AMD Promontory B350 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI Micro ATX AMD
RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x4 gb
GPU: ASUS gtx 750ti
HDD: 1 TB Blue Western Digital
PSU make and age: EVGA 450 BT, 80+ Bronze 450W and I got it a couple months back
OS: Windows 10 64x bit

Also I don’t know if this could be a factor but the only OC I’ve done is changing the fan speed to 100 because I was trying to cool it faster. I tried doing other OCs but again it was still crashing so I decided not to do any other OCs until this crashing issue was fixed.

I would have a look check the bios on the ASRock AB350M is on the latest bios version
BIOS
to access the bios hammer the delete key before system boots up as soon powered on
have a fresh formatted FAT32 USB stick download the bios from motherboard manufacturer only stick the bios you just downloaded on the USB stick recommend at least 2 bios's even if old re-boot press the delete button repeatedly to get into your bios select system then update bios select usb device flash it leave it to do its thing then you should be good with your new bios
if done wrong will brick your motherboard

The bios was already up-to-date, but I went to the manufacturers website and I installed a fresh version of it and so I’ll see how it performs and will let u know. Also I doubt it’s a Fortnite issue because my friend also built his pc yet while his pc has never crashed, mine has about 10-15 times in the same time period.

Nope the issue occurred once again. So it most likely is not a bios issue. The crashing doesn’t happen immediately it happens after I play for a while so I would assume it is an overheating issue but I have the fans on 100 and everytime I check the temperature of the cpu after crashes it’s only about 40-50 degrees C and the temperature max is about 80 degrees. Please help I don’t get this at all. The PC continues to run as in the hardware but the screen completely freezes, the audio messes up, and I’m stuck there for a while and nothing happens until I manually restart or shut down the pc itself.

PS: I tried playing Fortnite in windowed mode and it still happened.

Ok update: I tried taking the tempered glass case off of the pc and it started to work without crashing but it lagged every now and then so I’m guessing it was an overheating issue where my pc crashed. I looked it up and apparently that means my ventilation system is messed up? Anyone know how to fix this?

Feel for you... sucks about the crashing issue.

Have you checked AMD website for updates? Does AMD have an update app?
Have you ASRock website for an update app? What about ASUS website for updates to your GPU?

I have MSI motherboard and MSI has their own update utility app, which I run from time to time for updates.

Have you used NVIDIA Geforce Experience to look for updates?

Have you run Windows Update? Have you tried a resetting/ clean install of Windows 10?

Since you stated your cpu temp isn't high at all... but you think it's an overheating issue.. maybe try reseating CPU / reapplying new thermal paste?

Ok so it just crashed once more with the side panel off so I’m thinking that might not be the issue. I’ve already checked most of the websites like ASRock and GeForce Experience and they are all up to date. I just recently reapplied the thermal paste and it’s still happening. I just checked AMD and they have a driver for Radeon software so I’ll download that but if the problem persists then I will install a clean version of windows 10. I also have 4 case fans running, 3 in the front and 1 in the back. This is highly frustrating.

Have you turned off unnecessary background programs?

Are there any scheduled tasks or programs that run every few hours or so while you're gaming?

I have almost all the unnecessary Windows 10 crap turned off on my main gaming rig.

I guess after you do a clean win10 install, i suggest going through win10 settings and turn off stuff that you don't want running.... and/or uninstall unnecessary win10 apps.

I have moved my game to all low settings and the crashing has occurred. I will try to check the windows settings and take off extra background stuff. And the problem has occurred ever since I built it and before I had a dedicated gpu and used Vega 8 graphics on it, so is it possible that it is a power supply issue? I am genuinely curious because this issue is very annoying. Unfortunately I doubt I can return the power supply now, after 3 months but does the voltage drop occur after a while? Because I can run a few games of Fortnite before it crashes but I’m not too familiar with how voltage and powering works.

Ok so it just crashed once more so the AMD driver did not work. And no, I do not have another PSU to install and I am currently putting a fresh windows 10 on my usb and am about to try it so pray it works everyone

I’ll try the reseating the ram after if the windows 10 reset does not work and it is understandable if the motherboard is bad because I did just get the cheapest one that worked but if everyone agrees that getting a new motherboard would be the best bet then I will look into it.

That sucks 🙁

There's another way to reset/clean install of Windows 10 without having to use a USB drive.

https://www.cnet.com/how-to/clean-install-windows-10/

Go to Windows Settings/
Update & Security/
Recovery/
Reset PC/
Remove Everything

Before doing all of that... just to be on the safe side write down your Windows 10 product key. Produkey can help find your key.

Well it’s too late I already reset it and I’m pretty you’ve guessed it by now but it just crashed twice again. So at this point, the drivers are all up to date, I put a clean version of windows on there, it’s not hot enough to be overheating, I just reapplied thermal paste a couple weeks back, and it’s been happening since I built it. I don’t know what the issue is at all so if anyone has an idea, please just give it and I’ll try it out.
