Hello.

I recently built a new pc and i am having a few problems with it. Was hoping you guys could help me out. First off, the specs:

i5-4570
Gigabyte gtx760 windforce
8gb g.skill ripsaw 1600
120gb crucial SSD
1tb harddrive
Thermaltake TR-600 TR2 600W ATX Power Supply
MSI Z87-G41 PC MATE Intel Z87 Motherboard

When i first set it up i was having driver issues with my graphic card. The computer would boot to a black screen after windows 8.1 logo would appear.
Cleared the drivers using a sweeper and installed new ones which finally fixed that problem. Now i am having a new problem and i don't know how to fix it.

The pc will reboot randomly for no apparent reason. It does not blue screen either, just reboots. I am not sure what to do. all my drivers are up to date and so is windows 8. I tried running a memory test using memtest86 and after almost 3 hours there were no errors. It rarely generates a crash dump either. I ran WhoCrashed and i only have 4 dumps even though it reboots way more then that. The only error report i got is this one: crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\012514-5531-01.dmp This was probably caused by the following module: nvlddmkm.sys (nvlddmkm+0x153BBC) Bugcheck code: 0x116 (0xFFFFE0000559C010, 0xFFFFF80001DF7BBC, 0xFFFFFFFFC00000B5, 0xA) Error: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\nvlddmkm.sys product: NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 332.21 company: NVIDIA Corporation description: NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 332.21 Bug check description: This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed. A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 332.21 , NVIDIA Corporation). Google query: NVIDIA Corporation VIDEO_TDR_ERROR

I am not quite sure what else to try. All i want is for my new pc to work since i was wanting to use it for projects and what not. Could some of my parts be broken? Seems to be getting worse.

Thank you

Solution
Seems to be the newest driver crashing. Have you tried an older one? Deleted graphics driver completely then rebooted and installed new drivers?

Make sure you delete old drivers completely (if there is a program for it, I dont know, I dont use nvidia-cards but don't trust those programs blindly either, some have issues), otherwise there can be conflicts and all kinda strange things happen.
If Nvidia-drivers install to a folder, delete it. Delete every trace of graphics drivers.

"Bug check code 116 means the graphics system is unstable and Windows was unable to reset it (or had to reset it too many times due to instability). Try different driver versions, and use the custom > clean install option provided during setup."

You might want to browse that forum, seems dedicated to issues with Nvidia

How would i monitor the voltages for my psu? im still kind of new to this pc building stuff.

Thanks

I have done this before using Display Driver Unistaller previously to remove the old ones. I also delete the folder that you mentioned. I was having driver issues before that would cause a black screen but that has been fixed since i used this program. :S could the driver i have be causing the problem? Is it common for drivers to make your whole system reboot?

Hmm alright. i didnt think the psu was a bad choice... i guess il have to look into that. thank you.
