I not long just used Windows 10 in built setting to clear all files and start from scratch but now after the PC being on for a bit it just restarts randomly. Really confused why this is happening
I have been getting them just when downloading games off steam and a few tasks open on my browser. However recently I turned automatic restart off and I still have had one random restart since but they have stopped apart from thatYou want to run it for quite awhile, the suggestion is overnight for a good 8 hours. What you're looking for is zero errors reported by MemTest86. Even one single error means you have a problem with RAM, although I myself am left wondering if a PSU problem can show itself in the form of an error in a RAM test. Are the restarts occurring during light tasks, or under heavier loads only?
I’m glad that didn’t happen then. I am currently doing the RAM testing and I have had 2 passes so far. I suppose it does look like a PSU issue right ?BIOS update does carry some risk with an unstable system because it could restart in the middle of the update and brick the motherboard.
Hi mate do you think I should stay how it is for a day or two as the last log was 01:36 and it is now 23:10 and I have had no further issuesYeah, many pc enthusiasts would agree the memtest has to run for 8 to 12 hours before calling the RAM validated. Good to hear the BIOS update finished without a hitch! I know that swapping the PSU could hurt because of the expense, but if you’ve tried everything else...
Thank you so much for the help mate, hopefully it’s fixed fingers crossed. One last question if you don’t mind, if the problem is fixed will the log in windows event viewer stay there ? Sorry for all the hassle mate and I hope you have a goodnight and I wish you a happy New Year !Ok, maybe you worked it out! Crossing my fingers for you, my friend!
Thanks again, and that’s why this is the first forum I come to, every problem I have had someone has helped me and I’m very grateful for it, cheersYes, the record of the past events will stay there, if that's what you mean. You can save the events data to a file and maybe clear them out, if that's what you're looking for.
Happy New Year!
