Hi! My PC keeps shutting down - no BSOD just instant shut down, event viewer didn't say anything.

I have used Furmark for my GPU and it was fine (no overheating) and I have tested my CPU which didn't overheat either. I'm thinking it might be the PSU.

My specs:
i7 4790k with turbo enabled (cooled by H100i, the newer H100i)
R9 290 Vapor-X
2x 4GB 1886hz GEIL ram
Corsair CX 600
Samsung EVO 120GB SSD
2TB Black Caviar HDD

It happens randomly - from desktop to playing games. I often have to unplug it or hold the power button to get it to switch on again.

Solution

It is most likely your PSU.

Firstly your PSU is Tier 3 and your CPU and GPU is i would say quiet the beast, and that beast is hungry for power. Especially the R9 290.

You should...

You should at least get a 650W PSU and a Tier 2 would do you much better and your system would be protected better.

Solution
A good 80 PLUS Bronze 750w PSU would suffice. Getting a Silver or Gold is okay if you don't mind paying for a premium. The difference in your electricity bill among the 3 tiers is very low or even negligible unless you're running your PC 24/7 at high or full load.
