PC lags while gaming

Hello, I've recently gotten a new PC which I think is pretty decent when it comes to gaming, here are the specs:
GPU: GeForce GTX 960
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @2,70GHz
Memory: 8.00 GB RAM
Current resolution: 1920 x 1080, 60 Hz
Driver version: 364.51
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 Home

Despite this, I still get massive lag on games like Borderlands 2 and Payday 2. If anyone can shed some light on this problem that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Kindly check that power management in NVIDIA control panel is not set to ADAPTIVE chane into HIGH PERFORMANCE then try the gpu is damn overkill for these games.
