Hey everyone.

I never really noticed it but apparantly my parnter is saying that my PC is making our office really warm when its running compared to when its in sleep mode or shut off. I have recently added 2 120mm Fans to the top of my case for more cooling.. I dont know if thats whats she talking about but just thought I would come see if there we other options.

Thanks

Unless it is a really high power system, and a really small room with poor cooling and ventilation, the PC making the office hot is almost certainly not a thing.

Adding the fans does nothing, except maybe move the heat from inside the PC to outside the PC a little bit faster.
But the PC generates the same heat as it did before.

Bring in a thermometer and check before you turn it on, then let it run for maybe 10-15 minutes and check again. Both of you will know if this is the case.

If it is, you may have an overheating issue with your pc.

Adding fans is not going to help per se.

The PC may be "cooled" by the fans but what is really happening is that heat from the PC is being exhausted (dumped) into the office.

Key is to discover why, if there is a "why" the PC is getting hot or hotter now.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?

Disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, how full?

Has the case ever been opened to clean out dust and debris? If not, dust buildup etc, could be making the fans work harder to cool everything, which in turn creates more heat.

What are your pc components?
What is/are your monitor/s?

They can generate a surprising amount of heat that can make a room warm if the room is not ventilated.
Older monitors can be a big contributor.

Updated post with specs:

Case: Corsair Carbide Delta RGB Series
Motherboard: MSI B550-A-Pro
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper EVO 212
Ram: HyperX 32GB
GPU: EVGA GTX 2060
Power Supply: Corsair 750W 80 PLUS Gold Fully Modular

PC was built Early 2021 Jan/Feb..

I have a total of 6 Case Fan, 1 Back 3 Front and 2 Top all 120MM

Yes to answer Ralston question: I have cleaned out all dust/debris out of my case I did that about a month ago.

Geofelt: I have 2 ASUS Monitors 1 is a 27" I bought this year and a 24" I got a few years back for Xmas so their not ancient.

And keep in mind that it is August. If you are in the northern hemisphere it may be that your partner is just catching the normal heat of the season. If the ambient temperature is abnormally hot where you are that could be the answer.

Adding fans isn't going to change that. Adding more cooling can change it.

2060 with an 8 pin connector is 150w for the connector, 75w for the slot.
The cpu has a tdp of 65, but the default will turbo up much higher than that perhaps 2x.
Add in two monitors of perhaps 25w each

gpus doesnt maxes those connectors, expected powerdraw around 180watts on gpu with single 8pin
and quick look on tech powerup shows 190watts as target for evga rtx 2060
cpu tops out at 90w with heavy avx workloads, with some usb, ram, chipset...350watt max under heavy load?
but since its some office...excel shouldnt draw that much :)

Adding fans won't reduce the heat output of the PC. It will just more efficiently remove the heat from inside the PC and into the surrounding air. The components might run cooler but the heat dumped into the room is the same. You could run the CPU in eco mode to reduce the heat output. Also your partner is probably giving off 80W of heat, she might be making the room warm.
