Hi, I have a problem where my screen will not come back on after putting my PC to sleep even after a power off still no signal. This started around 2 days ago and has been fine till that point. When I boot my PC I see the MAG logo and then the screen goes black and eventually "No Signal" as I hear the Windows boot sound.

Yesterday I had to fully reformat my PC to get it working again but today it's done the same exact thing, yet when I come to my PC this morning it was already on with a black screen, so I assume it didn't get put to sleep for some reason.

Not sure what could be the problem wether it's a hardware or software, any tips would be appreciated, thanks.

Info:
Running Windows 11
Did not change any drivers prior to this happening
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x
GPU: RX 6700 XT
PSU: Corsair CX600
RAM: 32GB Corsair 3600
MOBO: B550 Tomahawk

did you update all the drivers on PC after the format yesterday?

Which model corsair PSU?

try reinstalling GPU drivers and see if makes any difference. Possibly use older drivers, or run windows update after the restart and let windows update find older GPU drivers - https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq...n-install-of-your-video-card-drivers.2402269/
Thanks for the reply, it's a CX600 not 650 as I originally stated. I fully installed all the latest updates after the reformat, chipset, GPU and Windows updates. The only thing I didn't check was if there are any bios updates which I will once reinstalling windows has finished. If not I can certainly try an older driver and see if the problem still occurs, thanks.

Its either a driver problem or card. It showing bios flash screen shows card works to a point, its just not working with the drivers

so I take it it was fine last night, did you do any restarts after install? make sure windows is up to date?

Yeah it was fine last night I restarted multiple times after going through windows update and making sure they were all done. The GPU is only around 3 months old bought brand new same with the CPU.

The only thing I can think of what has changed is the game I've just started to play in the last week (Destiny 2 ) I left open while putting the computer to sleep, I have no idea if this can cause a problem like the one I have or not (don't see why specially after a restart).

maybe its the game
Could be an unsupported refresh / resolution combination selected in Destiny 2.
Try reverting to default Destiny 2 settings by deleting cvar file as described at https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/46407 or check cables / connections if it's happening generally.
destiny 2
The screen would just go black, after about a second or two, I will get the no signal screen on my monitor. I can still hear sound, music playing from YouTube, and the clock on my G15 Keyboard would still be ticking. I believe my keyboard and mouse are still responding. But there is just no way to get my Computer to display stuff on my monitor.

perhaps don't leave game going tonight and see if it happens again?

Well, same again. Nothing was left open when put to sleep, even tried older GPU driver that I know used to be fine and updated BIOS to latest. I have no clue now other than just not use sleep anymore.

how annoying. Shame it wasn't the game.

at this rate you need to create an image of the install so you not doing it everyday.

I found this:
Probably not your gfx that is the issue.
Could be memory related. Could be related to OS.
Try stock settings in bios for the memory.
And try open a elevated cmd in windows and type powercfg /availablesleepstates
Check what your system supports. Check what sleepstate your windows is configured for and also check if bios is supporting this. Look for s3.
Try a different sleep mode in windows.
You could try to install a fresh windows on another hd and check if it works without installing other than gfx drivers.

card won't wake from sleep

removing xmp fixed it in above case, though a bios update fixed it later.

I finally found a solution in another discussion recommending disabling HDCP support in Adrenalin under Display > Overrides. Sleep now works as intended.

same card, won't wake from sleep

this link has lots of people with same problem so it could be AMD drivers. Although these are all a yer ago.

if it only just started out of blue and happens on every install, its either the card itself
or another driver that got updated and suddenly hates sleep... on 3 different installs. I don't like the odds. Guess it could be adrenaline, do you go get drivers each time?

I don't use sleep anyway, PC always either hibernating or off, if I am not using it. If its a driver problem, hibernate wouldn't help as it might just recreate problem.

I did create a system restore point yesterday so hopefully that will work. It's hard to test as it only happens when it's been a sleep for a few hours, I put it to sleep a few times yesterday just to test and it was fine but when left for a few hours it wasn't.

Yes I go to AMD'S website manually and get the GPU drivers. Thanks for the links, I will certainly try that and see what happens tonight.

DO this now, see if it makes any difference

open command Prompt (admin)
Enter these BOLD commands and press ENTER after each.

(Note the colon after C with no space; then the spaces which are important - one after T before / & T before { & } before B & Y before L)

C:

BCDEDIT /SET {DEFAULT} BOOTMENUPOLICY LEGACY

EXIT

that sets it so on start up, if you immediately start pressing F8 it should load you into a menu which lets you access safe mode

you do this to turn it off
C:

BCDEDIT /SET {DEFAULT} BOOTMENUPOLICY STANDARD

if it is the GPU drivers, and you can get into safe mode, uninstall them.

Thanks for the suggestion although it may be sorted, after trying everything I decided to buy a new HDMI lead. Put the computer to sleep last night and it was fine this morning. Now I don't know if this was a coincidence or not, but I will keep you updated. Never thought to replace the cable earlier as it just seems weird why it would be the cable since it showed BIOS screen and also worked after a fresh install until sleeping a while.

I have seen some weird answers before so anything is possible

It is one reason you get the error but it seems very specific that it only happens at startup.
the nights before, any stage you turn PC off and just left it off for a while before starting?

I think the GPU sends a signal down any HDMI or DP cables its attached to and the monitor only shows No signal if it can't read the signal. explains why if I unplug my monitor from PC I get that message on screen. GPU manages monitors.
Screen isn't really off during a reset, or at least mine doesn't turn off. So it may not be long enough.

I have a hdmi extension cable I was using on mouse that started causing errors in windows saying device didn't work. Mouse is fine, seems its the cable... i only got cable 2 years ago. Sigh.

Well seems it must of been the cable, very strange, but everything has been fine the last few days since I swapped it, thanks for all your help, just need help on syncing RGB together now, ugh.

oh you trying to sync less known brands... thats a bit more tricky

Synapse is the downside of Razer, they need competition to make them make software better. They are in position Logitech had 10 years ago, the default. So they don't have to try with software. Which sucks.

Yeah I only went with the Razer Controller as Mystic Light is so bad for customization and I liked that you could see each individual LED on screen to make your own effects. Would you of recommended a different controller for better software and keyboard sync? I mainly like them keyboards because they're hot swappable so if a key every broke it's easy to replace instead of buying a new keyboard. Plus going for all white accessories.

Ah no problem, sorry for all the questions just been looking for days on how to achieve it without buying a Razer keyboard. Thanks again for the help, would the Components section be a good place for this sort of problem?
