I have a Buffalo WHR-HP-G300n with DD-WRT. Everything was working fine. But since yesterday, the download speed on my PC is limited. I have a 2mbps plan, and downloads from normal sites are around 260kb/s which is fine. But Youtube and torrents give me very good speed. I get 1.3mb/s in Youtube and around 5.3mb/s in torrents. But now, I only get a max of around 800kb/s in both. Earlier, I used to get up to 5.3mb/s, but now, it won't go above 800-850. But all the wireless devices connected to the router like laptops and phones are getting speed up to 5.3mb/s. Its with the PC that I have the problem. I even reset the router.

I don't have any modem in my house. Its below my building. The wire is connected to the router. But I removed that wire and connected it to my PC, still wont go above 850kb.s. So the problem is with the PC.

I would right click on your ethernet adapter and check with the settings. Do a ipconfig /flushdns in cmd. ipconfig /release and a /renew.
Also you could try doing a speedtest in "safemode with networking". then get back.

I already did the flush dns and release and other stuff in cmd. In speed test, i get around 2mbps which is fine since i have a 2mbps connection. But in torrents, i used to get 5mb/s download speed but now, its only 800kb/s. But the same torrent in th laptop which is connected to the router gets 5mb/s

is you torrent bandwidth capped in that torrent program? make sure to set it at unlimited. If you are using a third party firewall make sure non of your settings are interfering with you torrent program and ports.

Also, I don't understand how you are getting 5mbs on a 2mbps connection. You should be happy.

Its not only a problem with torrent, but also steam and youtube too. My ISP gives me 10 mbps download speed on steam and on Google websites. And 50mbps on torrents.

It's not a shared connection. As I said, ti Have the router in my home and devices like mobile phones and laptops which are connected to thr router is getting the spped. Only my PC is not getting it. So its not a problem with my ISP, its a problem with my PC

Is your hard drive full or nearly full? If you have a lot of fragmentation that can cause downloads to slow.

Try another network adapter if you have one and see if that makes a difference. Try another Ethernet cable.

If neither above helps, you have a software issue. Could be driver issues, malware or virus scanning software slowing you down. May want to try running a Ubuntu live USB/DVD and testing performance to see if software is the problem.

Can you give us your correct internet plan? I see you put 2 mbps, and then 5.3 mb/, following by 10 mbps on steam and google, and torrenting gives you 50 mbps. Also can you use the correct term since it does matter on the abbreviation and it will help us determine your issue. Also these speeds are all over the place, and I cant seem to know what is your correct speed from your ISP

I have a 2 mbps plan. My ISP gives me 10 mbps download speed on steam and on Google websites. And 50mbps on torrents.
Anyways, I found out the problem. The duplex was set to half duplex(10mbps) on my PC settings for some reason. Changed it back to full duplex and now it's fine.
