[SOLVED] PC not posting

I have a couple of questions:

1. My RGB ram is lighting up. Is there any chance that it is faulty or that the dimm slots that the ram is in is faulty?

2. My AsRock B450M PRO4-F Motherboard manual says that to clear the CMOS I have to move the jumper to the 2nd and 3rd pins. However I only have 2 pins and no jumper so how should I reset the CMOS?

3. How important is it to install all the motherboard standoffs? If I don't install them all is it likely to cause my system to not boot?


This is my first build. My PC is not posting. At first it was posting if I only put one of the 8GB sticks in ( I have 2). It would boot fine and everything would work. However, if I put the 2nd RAM stick in, it would light up when I turned it on along with the other components, but it would not post. After approximately 10 seconds the PC would shut down, before turning back on again, only to repeat what had just happened. I cleaned the sticks but nothing changed. My standoffs are not all in, could that be the problem?

Yes Faulty RAM's or a Dead RAM stick are most likely know to Cause problems with your Computer POST/Boot problems and random computer restarts.
The best way to Test if its not your RAM slot itself is to Put the Working RAM stick (Sappire Nitro+ RX 580)In every RAM slot there is Which you have 4x RAM slots.
If your System boots with the One Working RAM stick in every RAM slot.....You then know your Slots is fine and quite obvious that the other RAM stick you have is Dead or Ether faulty and needs to be replaced.

Use the One Faulty RAM stick and place it in every RAM slot there is(Which is not necessary)and if your system keeps restarting and does not POST,,,,Your RAM stick is broken.

Yes.
If your RAM stick is faulty then the MOBO would give out an LED warning to show that one or more RAM sticks are bad.

The Motherboard is still fine and functional because it can still boots/post without that one faulty RAM stick.

Can take the battery out of the motherboard for some time, like 5 min. and put it back. Manual clearly show three pins so you are maybe looking at the wrong pins?
See now on the picture of the motherboard it has two pins, can short those for about 5sec. with a small screwdriver.

Don't be lazy just install all necessary.

If ram problem and this new just return this kit and get something else.
