I've had my custom built pc for about a year now, but a few weeks ago it wouldn't turn on. I opened it up and started tinkering with it, and found it would power on only when I disconnected the graphics card from the power supply. A friend of mine had a look at it and suggested replacing the power supply, which I have done, but the problem still remains.
The pc runs fine when the graphics card is not plugged in, as it runs on the integrated graphics, although I can hear the gpu fans trying to start up.

Solution

seems to me you trouble shot the problem, have you tried to use a different video card (not integrated) just to make sure it is the video card that is failed and not your motherboard slot.
