Hi,

I just attempted to install an SSD into my PC, after unplugging my HDD. I used a new SATA cable and the other SATA power lead from my PSU. This meant I wasn't using any of my cables that were used by my HDD so I could reinstall that after I installed windows. So after installing both the power and SATA cables into my SSD, I proceeded to turn on my power supply again and start up my computer, where I was greeted to a black screen. My monitor didn't show any signs of life. I am assured that my monitor nor cable are the issue, since I have switched VGA leads and tried my monitor on a laptop.
So, after presuming my SSD was the issue, I tried my HDD using the cables I tried with the SSD (to check if those were the issue). Again, nothing happened. So my tests concluded that the cables were the issue, so I installed my HDD again using the old cables. Yet again nothing happened.

Inside my computer everything appears to be working. HDD disks spin, all the fans come to life and the lights turn on. So I out ruled the PSU as the issue. (By the way, I also removed the new SATA cable from my mobo incase that was the issue). The only part I cannot test of course is the CPU.

When I power my computer, everything seems to be OK. But my monitor shows no life. The orange standby light stays orange, the BIOS doesn't appear nor anything else. Completely lifeless.

I had a USB with windows 10 on it ready to install onto the SSD, which was plugged in on the first couple of attempts.

Please help! Thank you.

Thank you so much! Checked every cable once, but on a second attempt I realised I missed a few! Either that or it was trying to boot off my ext hard drive which was still plugged in. :)

Good deal.
(we've all been there)
