I have an old Dell GX620 that i use for browsing the internet at my grandparents, it's an old pc.. Intel Pentium 4 3ghz , 4GB DDR2 RAM, 256MB video card, and i wanted to install a new processor in it knowing that i ordered it online, they said that it will come today , and how exited i am i remove the old Pentium from it socket and let it on the table , waiting for them to come , and a call cames that they will be late by one day, i put the processor back , HS too , press the power button and all i see is the power button glowing orange and i'm really scared that the motherboard is dead

Solution
Check for missing pins but at this point has your other CPU arrived? Its possible a CPU pin is stuck in the socket. You may want to unlock and flip the case up so any logged can fall out. Else you could damage the new CPU.
Did you unplug anything like the motherboards CPU power plug next to the CPU? You could unplug from the wall and try removing the motherboard battery for 5 minutes to reset the bios. Try taking a pic of the inside of the case. Maybe we can see the issue.
