I have a PC that stopped displaying video. I replaced the power supply recently, motherboard and ram have been in place for years. I have reset the bios and tried ram sticks individually. Each stick works by itself but once I add a second stick computer starts with no start up beep or video. I set everything up again in a different motherboard (still INTEL) and it started up (no start up beep) but runs very slow. Is the problem RAM? Motherboard? or cmos? I'm at a loss for my next step. I don't want to buy new hardware not really knowing what the problem is. Thanks for your help!

Hardware:
Motherboard- Intel Desktop Board CEFC02
RAM- Kingston KVR 1G
CPU- Intel Duo quad core 2.66 ghz
Video Card- EVGA geforce GTX 1060
Power Supply- EVGA 550 G2
Monitor: Acer GN246HL Black 24" Gaming Monitor, 144 Hz 1ms

Solution
4 beeps is most likely overheating on an intel board. something is wrong either with your heatsink install or the q8400 requires too much wattage for that board. i cannot confirm because i cannot find a spec sheet for the new board and what chips it supports. personally, i'd recommend considering purchasing a new board/chip or try to purchase the exact same model as your original board on ebay.

Thanks for the quick response. I tried each slot individually (there are four) Slots B0 and B1 start up normally. Slots A0 and A1 do not get a start up beep or video.

I replaced the motherboard with a very similar type of board.

Old MOBO: Intel Desktop board e30148
New MOBO: Intel Desktop board d81072

The new MOBO had a different processor in it. An Intel Duo core 1.8 ghz. It could start up with all of my equipment fairly normally (it just ran slow). I installed the processor from my old MOBO, an intel core 2 quad q8400 2.66ghz. The computer shuts off just after start up. Maybe ten seconds, just enough time for me to glance at bios. When I start it up again I see that there is an overheat error and the computer says it has to shut down due to the temperature of the cpu. I tried to be very careful setting the thermal adhesive and even if it wasn't perfect couldn't imagine it would overheat in seconds before start up. I also saw in bios that the processor it was showing wasn't exact. It listed a generic Intel not listing that it was a core 2 quad but did know it was a 2.66gzh. I couldn't be sure before I did this that the processor would be compatible with the MOBO and the chip set in the MOBO did appear physically different than the old MOBO. Would it still start up with an incompatible processor? Do I need to buy a new MOBO? I have another old MOBO lying around (Intel D89517) which I could try. I let the thermal glue set for an hour still get overheat shut down on start up. First time I booted up no start up beep yet it still started. Now I get four beeps on start up. Any ideas?
