pc or laptop

im going to go to college next year. i play pc games but i need a upgrade,

my choices are

gaming laptop for school and gaming

or

gaming pc and laptop but the laptop is just for school

Gaming PC and laptop as PC's can be upgraded extensively, keep the laptop for word/excel/browsing.

Gaming laptops are big, the battery does not last as long on a gaming laptop, they cost more in comparison to a desktop, and they are weaker. But while there are cons to having a gaming laptop vs a gaming desktop you can game where ever you want and that's a big plus. But if it were up to me I'd get a good gaming desktop for the power and because laptops are much more likely to be damaged or stolen.

Get a $400 laptop and a $550-800 gaming PC. You'll pay just as much for a gaming laptop for less performance, screen size, airflow, upgrading options, etc.

I would only get a mac if you need the battery life. There are other good ultrabooks that can offer better performance. Also only get it if you are using the mac os and not dual booting as their drivers for windows are not that good.

If money is no object, get a Mac if you like. However there are many windows laptops which offer better performance and have similar build quality for less.
