Hi,

This is my first post on this subreddit so if I cross any rules(have read them) then please point me out on them. Now then. My build specs are: GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 970 (Black and White edition) CPU: Intel Core i5-4690k 3.50GHz RAM:8GB (for further info just ask)

My rig is about 1 and a half years old, but I feel like it's not keeping up on the latest games or it atleast has trouble running them lately. Games such as GTA V or Watch Dogs 2 etc. run good in the beginning, but after a little time just seem to go down hill. I'm talking about frame degradation or stutter so to say. The longer I play, the more the stutter and random fps drops. I have reinstalled windows 10 but that didn't seem to help a bunch either. I want to be able to run these type of games without any frame stutter or degradation capped at 60fps. So after this whole life story, my question is: Which part of my pc would be best to upgrade and where to upgrade to? or is this some kind of weird problem that can be fixed by a small wave of the wand.

Thank you for reading and thanks in regards for answering my question.

Solution
After doing some research, your CPU isn't enough for 60 FPS Ultra settings in GTA (CPU-bound game). If you had to upgrade, go with upgrading your CPU to an i5-6600k or 7600k because your GPU isn't that bad at all. Just note, upgrading the CPU will require getting a new compatible mobo as well as compatible (DDR4) memory to along with that motherboard. So, simply said, it won't be a cheap upgrade, but you could definitely keep your GPU. For the time being, you could tune down your game settings while waiting to upgrade.
