Question PC randomly auto-muting and locking mute

I've been having this issue, increasingly, over the last month or so.

My pc will seem to arbitrarily mute itself while I'm watching a video in the background. It doesn't seem to matter if it's streaming or playing MPC-HC. When I try to raise the volume, it drifts back to mute. The only way I've found to get any sound again is to shut down and restart.

Then I can raise the volume without it automatically lowering itself. I updated to the latest Realtek audio drivers, which is super annoying because I lost my Audio Manager interface.

Really annoying 😡

We're going to need a little more info.

What version(not edition) of Windows 10 are you on? As for your sound card, are you working with a discrete sound card or the one bundled with your motherboard? If so, then please mention the make and model of your motherboard and it's BIOS version.

If you're using an USB driven headset/speaker then include the make and model of the audio equipment. Does your keyboard have a volume toggle button or rotary dial?

And, yes. I use a Logitech K270 and soon as I touched the sound controls it faded to mute, but failed to return once I switched it off. (To qualify this, this is the first time it happened when I physically touched any control to/on my pc when it happened. Before this, it was completely random and without administration.)
