My desktop PC which I built 3 years ago is running beautifully but for the past year or 2 i've had these completely random total freeze ups where I have to hold the power button to restart. These freeze ups may be anywhere from weeks to months apart and happen randomly regardless of idle or when i'm gaming. I'm determined to get to the root of this, as my PC runs great otherwise.
The last critical error I see from event viewer before the unexpected shutdown is this:
Log Name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
Date: 8/22/2017 11:55:50 PM
Event ID: 137
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: (1024),(4)
User: N/A
Description:
The system firmware has changed the processor's memory type range registers (MTRRs) across a sleep state transition (S5). This can result in reduced resume performance.
This error occurred last night however. There are more events leading up to this crash but no errors.
Things i've tried:
Memory diagnostic: Passed
Sfc /scannow: Passed
Virus scans: Didn't find anything
Kept an eye on temperatures. Everything looks good. Fans are spinning.
Checked MOBO for visible damage... Nothing.
If there's any more logs or information I could post here to help out just let me know.
