I found in my house a old LED monitor and i want to use it in my setup as a second monitor, but the problem is everytime I connect the monitor the PC reboots, then after one minute or two both monitors turn off and the PC reboots. I tested the old monitor on it's own and it works fine.

The two monitors have an HDMI to VGA adapter but i tested both of them and I dont see any problem.

I have:

RX 580 8GB
Ryzen 7 3700x
16GB Ram

Make and model information for both monitors?

Motherboard?

What PSU is installed: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original, new, refurbished, used)?

How are the monitors being connected: Direct to GPU, I/O panel, one to each?

My first thought was that there could be a short circuit of some sort when the physical connection is made.

However, if the monitors do run/work for a couple of minutes then that may not be the case.

Boot with one working monitor.

After successfully booting into Windows look in Reliability History and Event Viewer.

Either one or both may be capturing some error code, warning, or informational event at the time of the PC reboots.
