Hi, i recently bought a 780ti ro replace my broken r9 280x and a noctua NH-L9x65 cpu cooler. However when installing the cooler the cpu came off with the hold heat sink and bent one of the cpu pins slightly. I managed to bend the cpu pin back into shape and the pc still boots with everything working for standard use with nothing overheating.

However, recently when playing games such as PUBG and BF1 and even csgo etc my screen goes black and my mouse and keyboard turn off into about 5 minutes of gameplay which forces me to reboot my computer to get a display. Bare in mind this is only for games and normal desktop use is fine.

At first I thought it was the psu which was causing the issue but I recently bought a 2nd one (corsair vs 650) to see if my corsair cx 750 was the problem. However the same problem occurred. Ive also tried using a different plug, wall socket and room in my house and I still get the same problem.

Next I tried taking the 780ti back to the store which I bought it from which they tested in games and they did not get the same result. So the gpu is not the issue.

I have also done game re-installs, windows reinstall, driver re-installs, under clocking the gpu, stress testing the gpu, monitored gpu temps in game and it never went above 75 degrees and disk fragmenting etc and which I get the same result.

Has anyone got any more ideas on what the problem could be or suggest a fix? I'm running out of ideas and quite personally don't want to be spending more money on a new motherboard, cpu and ram as im trying the save for university.
Thank you :) pc spec below if it helps :)

1| Have you tried monitoring your temps when you see the abrupt black screens? Namely for the CPU?

2| Per the TDP guide, courtesy of Noctua, the cooler you currently have is only capable of dissipating 100W off the processor while your processor is rated for 125W of heat output. Even if I'm assuming you're not on any overclock's you're yet short of a 25W headroom and when you look at making a CPU cooler purchase you should always opt for a cooler that has more headroom.

3| Compared to the CX unit you currently own, the VS isn't a step above that, rather a step below it. In retrospect your PSU experiment wasn't fruitful.

4| You forgot to mention the OS you're working off of. Is it Windows 10? If so, have you ruled out a corrupt installer by recreating the USB installer and trying to reinstall your OS?

5| You might also want to run memtest86+ for at least 10 passes and see if any errors turn up. Speaking of which can you pass a link to your ram kit?

I've edited your post to improve thread comprehension and possible responses.

Thank you for your very fast replies it's very appreciated. Im am now currently using windows 10 pro 64 bit. I will admit that the cpu cooler choice was a mistake on my part as I was more focused on the clearance room which the air 240 provided in terms of height. Also i went with the vs 650 as a quick solution as being a student, i haven't got that much money. Anyways, I will try and reinstall my stock cooler back onto my cpu and try again. Here is my link to my ram kit-http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/vengeance-8gb-ddr3-memory-... Once again, thank you for your quick responses

unfortunately, i switched back to the stock cpu cooler and i have the same problem 🙁 But thank you for replying though :)
