I have a Harswell i5-4670K @4GHz (iirc) and I just checked what it would cost to drop in a i7-4770k.

Apparently i7-4770ks cost $400 on newegg. Why is a 4 year old CPU so expensive?

Common problem with I7's(and probably many other models). When I built my 2600k rig, SB was already a year old. I had thought that after 3-4 years the 3770k's would drop in price and I could put one in to take advantage of PCIe 3.0 that the MOBO has. Nope. They're still similarly priced. Good news is that after all this time it wasn't really needed anyway. At this point I'm just going to ride it out and probably build a Ryzen or something in a few years.
