Question pc running below expectations

why my pc is running below expectations

don't know what they're expecting out of this system from userbenchmark but i wouldn't expect good performance for any modern applications or even near-to-modern gaming scenarios.

this would've been a mid-performance system even at time of release of these components at best.
these days it would be considered quite low quality in any scenario outside of basic media usage.

what exact performance are you getting with what specific games/applications;
what settings are you using at what resolution and what fps do you see?

performance has been fine for mid level gaming until recently i could play every single game i wanted but now its getting really bad with newer games i dont have much of a budget right now got this pc extremely cheap two years ago and its done what i needed but now im looking to see if i can make any small upgrade that gets me another two years at medium level graphics i really wanted to play high on life but that has looked awful i also really would like to play hogwarts legacy my budget is only around 300 do you think if i upgraded to something like a 1660 super it would patch my problems for now until i can get the money to get new pc or is my cpu on this pc too weak thank you for responding

the i7-7700K cannot provide enough frames to any modern GPU for good performance so it wouldn't really matter if you got a new GPU in terms of modern gaming performance.

and the GTX 1050 Ti was ~mid-quality even when it was released so there's no way it could offer decent performance in any modern scenario.
even if you did upgrade the motherboard & CPU, this card would severely hold back game performance.

plus these hard disk drives do not offer good enough read/write performance to offer max performance for the same modern games.

you really need to specify what specific games you want to play and what in-game settings you would like to see @ what resolution & frame rate.
and keep in mind that any future releases you would like to enjoy will need at the very least their specified minimum requirements.

confused on why the i7 7700k isn’t good enough say I want to play hogwarts legacy it recommends an i7 8700 would the 7700k really not be enough I’m just trying to have basic story games like that run at low to medium I was able to run red dead on low and average around 40 frames just really confused was under the impression the 7700k was still decent enough for mid level gaming

Appreciate you taking the time to explain this stuff but say hog warts legacy minimum needs i5 8400 isn’t the 7700k good enough is there a good reliable place to compare cpu?

if the amount provided isn't what you're expecting then it doesn't matter which GPU you have, it can not perform at any expected high fps with high settings.

honestly just wanna be able to play these new triple a games in 1080p at low to medium at 60fps I can almost pretty much do that with most of my games was just seeing if this would somehow give an improvement in frames and visually seems like now just recently I haven’t been able to play games to my liking for example if I bought god of war now In my opinion i could play it just wouldn’t be the best would getting a 1660 super not fix this? God of war recommends i5 6600k gtx 1060 sorry I’m not the smartest when it comes to pc and this is probably like talking to an idiot for you but I appreciate the help

God of war...

with basic 1080p and medium settings an 8700K with GTX 1660 should be able to handle it with little-to-no problem.

i played it a bit on one of my lower end systems(i7-8700K / 1080 Ti) and easily reached 60fps throughout with a mix of medium-ultra settings.

if you notice big graphical setbacks or image discrepancies then you will know that a higher powered graphics card is needed.
