I built a new PC with windows 8.1 about two weeks ago and everything has been working great until a couple of days ago. I woke up one morning and my internet connection was gone for all of my devices on my network, so I did a router reset and everything started working fine again for all of my devices other than my PC.

My PC is showing a solid 5 bar connection to my wireless network and is displaying no errors relating to a lost internet or WIFI connection, however I get frequent SSL errors in chrome, Steam constantly disconnects and reconnects to the internet, and when I finally can get a webpage to load (let's take Facebook as an example because of the site's "unending" scroll feature) it will only load a few status updates and scrolling down gets an unending loading icon. Images load half-way and then stop, and youtube is impossible to access.

I checked ipconfig and am receiving an IP address from my router.

As I'm writing this on my macbook pro (which is working fine) I'm watching my router portal(?) load very very slowly on my PC over the course of about ten minutes. Every minute or so another small part of it loads.

Please for the love of all things tech, can someone help me? I have no idea where else to turn.

ANSWER: My friend, I had the same situation, it would come and go, did tons and tons of searching and...thank God I found my problem after all the ip4, ip6, all kinds of starting and stopping things ect. After a fresh install of Windows 7 last night and the system was flying like it should, yeahh at 56mbps...it stopped again!!! "No Internet Connection" You got to be kidding me, this thing is fresh..I started rolling back different drivers that I had started loading and then it was back, hmmm. I started re-loading them and checking and when I got to the "USB 3.0" controller....there it was!!! When ever I would plug something into it, an external drive, flash drive or God forbid my "Wireless" adapter, dead in the water again...
Hi
By router reset do you mean reset power or restart router
(Same effect)

Or full reset which wipes configuration
My tp link modem router switch refused to let my PC connect to any rj45 socket (eg switch)
But my tablet connected by wireless ?

A full reset cured the problem
You need your ISP settings before you start
+ wireless security settings etc

In another case I found HTML downloads failed (we're blocked) buf FTP continued to work
A full reset failed so I had to replace the router modem switch

I had a similar issue and I had to reset the modem too. That was a little tricky because when I powered down the modem I noticed one light was still on, so I checked, and it had a battery in the bottom. I pulled it out and waited about 1/2 minute then put the battery back in and re-fired up the modem, then the router then the PC and it was working for me.

It that doesn't work maybe the infamous windows update did you in try rolling the system back to before the issue started.

What....after all the searching, I never heard a word about this, you got to be kidding me. I did a little searching on it and oh yeah....they know😉 I actually found a bulletin from "INTEL" stating that the 2.4ghz wireless adapters could have a problem functioning since the USB 3.0 unit produces a "NOISE" or even a frequency that interferes with these things!!! You got to be kidding me, oh yeah!! I even found an HP post on it but...really not much more then that at all!! SILENCE...ridiculous, they need to fix their hot 3.0 USB flash in the pan system. I just purchased a 4 port one and am waiting on a "card reader" with another 4 ports!! Oh my goodness, what a waste. They seem to stop broadcasting after a minute or two of pulling the connection but that kills surfing while trying to do anything with the port. I couldn't believe it but thank God I found it. Please pass this on and sure hope it helps you...now that is easy😉 Here's the INTEL bulletin link to see for yourself. God bless, Ben. Link:http://www.usb.org/developers/whitepapers/327216.pdf
