GIGABYTE GA-Z270X-ULTRA GAMING ATX
850 Watts - EVGA SuperNOVA 850 GQ 80 PLUS Gold

I was just on YouTube and all of a sudden my PC shutdown and restarted back up immediately. But I noticed a burnt smell and looked down and saw a spark trail coming from under the PC. I was surprised to see the bootup logo after that. When windows started back up, it reloaded my browser and did not seem to have a problem. I turned it back off immediately because I didn't want to risk anything else. Could this be a faulty power supply or excess built up of dust? I am not sure what happened, I just unplugged by setup for now and not going to turn it back on until I figure out the problem.

Thank you in advance for any advice!

Hi there :benetton:
Well i'm just as surprised as you are that your computer booted up right after the spark trail...
Now you have to make double sure on EACH hardware that there are no Resistors burned or popped...(( https://il5.picdn.net/shutterstock/videos/7678786/thumb/1.jpg ))
I mean like you have to scan every one you see (Including (most defnetly) your power supply)...That spark came out of the PSU because you half openings at the back of your power supply where the switch is or at the fan itself.
You should take out your power supply and open it and scan on the AMPS itself and see if there are no resistors burned or any type of burn----____You said you smelled Burn so something defnetly overheated and burned.https://images.evga.com/products/gallery/210-GQ-0850-V1_XL_7.jpg

Thanks for replying,
I was super surprised that it booted up right away as well. I looked up similar situations and I read that even though my PC boots and it is still working, the PSU might not be working 100%. It might distribute wrong voltages to my other parts, ruining them in the long run. I opened my PC up after and took it outside to dust it out. I scanned the mobo and didn't notice any popped resisters or caps. I was going to open up the psu itself but I got scared that I'll get shocked to death. Judging from the random shutdown and almost a fire starting under my PC, should I just replace my PSU?
