I've searched for the last week or so, but I haven't found a solution that fits my problem on any forum, so I'm really hoping someone can help, or at least give me some advice.
My rather strange problem is that I can't figure out whether the fault lies with my GPU or my PSU (or at least that's what my layman experience tells me).
My PC configuration:
CPU: Phenom II X6 1045T (came with an earlier Dell Studio XPS)
RAM: 6 GB (Same, came with the Dell)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (came with the Dell)
Mobo: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 (bought Feb 2015)
PSU: Corsair CX 600W (Feb 2015)
GPU: Sapphire AMD/ATI Dual-X R9 270X 4GB (Feb 2015)
Recently, my PC wouldn't turn on at all. No POST. Took my Mobo to the service center, they repaired it (didn't tell me what was wrong, though).
Now, I'm getting POST, PC starts fine. But after 3 to 4 minutes, it shuts down suddenly. The fans are running (no change in RPM), lights are on. No display.
I tried putting in a much older graphics card, one that doesn't require power. PC ran fine. I don't have a PSU that has power cables for the R9 270X GPU, so I haven't been able to test that.
As far as I can guess, it is probably either a problem with the GPU (not receiving power properly), or the PSU (not providing power properly). The question is: How do I figure out which it is???
I'm aware that the problem might be stemming from somewhere else completely, but I can't figure out where. I'd really appreciate some help, or at least if someone can point me in the right direction.
Awaiting in anticipation...!
