My specs:
Intel Pentium Gold G5400
8 GB DDR4
RTX 2060
Thermaltake TR2 600W PSU

I just recently added an RTX 2060 to my PC and I've been able to run relatively modern games like Call of Duty Infinite Warfare at 4K Max settings and the temperatures of my CPU and GPU are all well within normal ranges. However, when I start up the Anthem Demo (which has much higher requirements), I hear a high pitched whirring sound come from my PC and then a few seconds later it just suddenly shuts off and turns on again by itself afterwards. I've watched the temps as I start up the demo and don't jump much higher than when I run Call of Duty maxed out.

I've used this GPU and CPU for other demanding tasks like crypto mining briefly as well just to stress it out a bit but it still doesn't shut off instantly or make that high pitched whirring sound. What could be the problem? My PSU should have enough wattage for the RTX 2060 as well. I think it was either 650 or 750 watts.

Edit: I checked the Windows Event Log and saw several critical Kernel-Power shutdowns (event code: 41). Does that mean it's my PSU going bad or doesn't have enough wattage to keep up with the needs of the new GPU?

I have an RTX card and this kind of problem seems to be happening to more and more people lately. My PC suddenly restarts while gaming. Thermals are all normal and I see Kernel-Power 41 error in Event Viewer which just means an improper restart occurred but it can’t tell you why. I thought it was fixed with the Windows Oct update and/or an Intel update that Windows pushed at the same time, but I just had another restart recently - and this time I was just in the game menu (low-stress load). Needless to say it is very frustrating and disappointing. My rig passed memtest for 12 hours, but that doesn’t stress everything so I need to do more tests. My next step will be to DDU the drivers for a clean reinstall and then try a different PSU if...

It's a Thermaltake PSU but I can't figure out the exact model of it without removing the whole PSU because it's info is facing the other direction. I've been trying to find the original box to see if it's anywhere. I'll update this if I find it or decide to remove the PSU

Edit: Found the box, it's a Thermaltake TR2 600W PSU

I hit the same problem except i can play a little longer. I checked my event log and noticed two main event id's that kept popping up for me. ID 10016 which people were saying that it normally means a bad windows install and my other id was 875 which hinted toward a bad driver. Im still not sure how to fix this at the moment but the driver tracks due to sometimes when I play graphically intensive game ill get an error in my windows messages saying that "Application has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware" in this case today it was AnthemDemo.exe which is being blocked. I didnt get this error every time but Ive gotten it once today in this game and has happened to me in the past with the division.

When the Origin servers were down, I could run the Anthem demo just fine and sit on the main menu screen. But when it could connect, that's when it'd suddenly shut down. That's why I'm not entirely sure it's the PSU. My RTX 2060 does require a 500W PSU and I have a 600W PSU so it's kind of close. I was thinking of running to the nearest best buy before it closes to buy a new more powerful PSU lol but now I'm not sure if it'd make any difference.

Go to your event viewer and check the windows system errors and see what errors/critical's you have and then launch the game. After the game crashes along with ur pc check the logs again and see what errors are there, atleast it would give you some sort of narrowed down answer then you take it from there, that's literally what im about to do now.

If I still have restarts after all that, I will have to swap the GPU to see if that is the problem. I am running an i7-8700k on an Asrock ITX-mini mobo, 16GB (2x8) Corsair LPX DDR4-3000, a Gigabyte rtx 2080 ti, and a Silverstone SFX-L platinum 800w psu. Super frustrated right now.

I feel you on that, my error at the moment is 875 followed normally by a 41 so the good thing is i know its a bad driver but the bad this i dont know how to find out what driver it is and how to get rid of it.

Good chance that is your problem. Seen 2 600w TR2s take out rigs. I would suggest replacing it asap.

I am very suspicious of my hardware, but I am also thinking it could be a problem with DirectX 12 because someone mentioned this on the gigabyte forums. It makes sense because I think my problem started when I moved on from Far Cry Primal to The Division. Is that a DX12 game? If it is, I will try it with DX11. I think you can change it in the settings.

Yeah I ended up replacing it with an 850W EVGA PSU and everything has been perfectly fine since then, so it definitely was the PSU.
