Hello, recently the past month my pc has been shutting off only during gaming. It is random and I could game for 5 minutes all the way to an hour or more before it shuts off, and I have to unplug power cable let sit for awhile, re plug it back in and hope it turns back on. If it doesn't turn back on I have to switch my power surge I am using and it usually turns back on.

My Specs are:
CPU: i5 4670k (not overclocked btw)
MOBO: MSI z97-g45 Gaming
GPU: Nvidia gtx 970
PSU: Silverstone Strider Plus 600W 80 plus Bronze
Ram: Corsair Vengeance Pro 3 sticks 4gb each 1600mhz

I have run memtest, aida64, haven't done a benchmark on my gpu yet, HCT, and Intel Processor Diagnostic, and all have come back as a pass. I should also note my temps have never skyrocketed or seemed out of the ordinary and all voltage meters I have looked into have shown my system operates at correct voltages for each piece in my system.

Now I have had this build pretty much untouched for a couple years, I built it originally in 2014. I have never had any issues besides a Ram stick dying (hence why I have 3 sticks instead of 4 right now) I cleaned the pc inside and out, purged old programs I havent touched in a long time, and cleaned the PSU inside and out. What could be causing my constant headache with this system?

It could be a couple things, but the most common reason for a "shutdown" is temperatures. Your cpu will shut down to protect itself.

Use AIDA64 to log temps during a RealBench stress test. Let it run for at least 30 minutes, and if it makes it thru without shutting down go back through the log and find the peak temps. 80-85C is about right, even up to 90 is ok in spurts. But any higher than that you may see thermal throttling or shutdown.

I have run the aida64 stress tests, and temps weren't a cause for concern.

It may be a PSU issue like Blackbird said, so this may be more "fyi"...but the AIDA64 stress tests are not very good, especially for temp stressing. AIDA is GREAT for logging and such, but don't rely on those stress tests for anything but a basic sanity check.
