My system is a fx 6300 with a gtx 780 ti. i am aware of the bottleneck but everytime they are both put under load for example playing gta v. my pc just cuts the power. i'm assuming my psu isnt good enough. it says it's 850 watt with 36 amps. any ideas?

try checking the power connections. also check for loose fans and cooling connections. GPU should be fine (I don't know what settings you're trying to run at, nor the resolution). You might try upgrading to an i5-4690k. much better CPU all-around.

850W should be more than enough for your current setup. I'm running an i7-4770k 4.2ghz with 2way 2GB GTX760s on a 750W corsair gold.

Solution

That's what i was thinking, because it never bothered me with the 680 i had before i never thought anything of it. thanks for the help
:)

haha i never knew that much about them when i first bought it. but jeez 432w no wonder i have a problem. i'll upgrade asap, but take my time this time. it's some cheap one i got from novatech

Your 750w PSU also can deliver more than 36a on the 12v rail. A good 850w PSU should be able to deliver somewhere close to 70a on the 12v rail(s).

Consider yourself luck that it hasn't killed the system. Such low quality power supplies are infamous for failing catastrophically a destroying systems and even been known to catch fire.
