Ive started to overclock my i7 920 (DO chip) from 3.6 to 4.0 on an Asus P6t motherboard.(jus p6t, not se or anything else)

at 3.6ghz i dont run into problems at all, temps are highest at 55-60c
i own a gemini 2 s524 for cooling.

Ive been wanting to reach 4ghz but when i do, i can only run my computer for around 5-10 mins till i get a blue screen and my pc restarts, I would like to know what would be the cause and hopefully a solution.

im a novice overclocker and just copied all the settings from BIOS from this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPyHVGmyjQo I would guess i did something wrong?

change the voltage- in the video it showed about 1.225v to a number higher, keep increasing the multiplier when...

It's not that the cpu can't handle the overclock, its the voltage is not enough. I would try increasing the voltage by little amounts (5-10mv) until you get it stable. Then you can try higher overclocks and see where you can take the cpu. Copying another persons overclock is one way of doing it, but will not account for a better chip- if they have a better time in the silicone lottery they can be stable on lower voltages, but you might need more voltage to fuel that particular overclock. If you have any further questions feel free to ask

change the voltage- in the video it showed about 1.225v to a number higher, keep increasing the multiplier when it is stable, then if it is not stable with the higher overclock, increase the voltage again. Stop at about 1.4v
